Why Tongues?

When you receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the Lord gives you the gift of tongues.

1 Corinthians 14:2 For he that speaks in an unknown tongue does not speak to men, but unto God: for no man will understand him.

Tongues are our prayer language that only God can understand.  He gave us our individual language; I have never known of two people speaking the same prayer language.  I love praying in tongues but the devil hates it because he doesn’t know what I am saying.  The devil is paranoid and he has a right to be, when I pray I may be talking about his defeat.  Some folks do not want to speak in tongues because they don’t know what they would be saying.  It takes a measure of faith to pray in tongues because one must believe it’s God’s will.  So what do we say when we speak in tongues?

Ephesians 6:17 Take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God: praying with all prayers.

Whatever we pray we are speaking God’s Word, so when we pray in tongues we are praying God’s Word.  The Holy Spirit is giving us the prayers that we speak in tongues; when we pray in tongues we are praying the perfect prayer for the situation.  Whenever I pray in tongues I don’t know what I’m praying for at the time, but God is making deposits in my spirit.  As I go through the day I seem to have supernatural wisdom, I feed off the deposits the Lord gave me.

1 Corinthians 14:4 He that prays in an unknown tongue builds himself up.

I have had to make some very precarious hospital visits.  I was fearful and did not want to make a visit so I began to pray in other tongues and a confidence came on me that was not of my character.  I have officiated at numerous funerals that I did not want to do.  I prayed in other tongues and the Holy Spirit took the Word of God and built me up.  Any believer who endeavors to live by faith needs the gift of tongues.

1 Corinthians 14:14 If I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful..

Do you trust your spirit to pray on your behalf?  You know your spirit is born again.  It is divinely connected to God.  Do you trust God to give you your gift of tongues?  If you have faith you can answer yes to these questions.  I want every advantage God has made available to me.  I am in spiritual warfare and I fully intend to win.

1 Corinthians 14:13 Let him that speaks in an unknown tongue, pray that he may interpret.

You cannot interpret tongues until you first speak in them.  Interpretation can come immediately or at another time and place.  Hundreds of times I have read my Bible and didn’t understand it.  I prayed in tongues and the Holy Spirit gave me the revelation, the interpretation I needed.  When you don’t know how you should pray, the Holy Spirit does.  You can pray His perfect will out in tongues.  Jesus did not leave us comfortless, He sent the Holy Spirit.

I noticed when I do pray in tongues. The enemy brings lies, that are almost, convincing. Until the Most High brings HIS WORD, to my rememberance to let me know, that those are not HIS thoughts towards me.
That He is not a liar. The enemy lies. That Yahs thoughts towards me is For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Jeremiah 29:11 KJV

Just like the women who helped Jesus, I too can be like them.

God will receive my offerings and use them to build His church.

What He did for them, He will do more for me.

I don’t give donations, rather I sow seed and I will reap a harvest, so help me God.
