what happens to me when i die?

I’m a little surprised at the number of people who are ignorant concerning the day of their departure.  I personally knew several people who understood the Scriptures and they looked forward to the day they would die.  The Apostle Paul knew what was waiting for him on the other side, he was anxious to pass over.

Philippians 1:23 I am in a straight between two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is for the better.

Paul had a choice, he could use his faith to remain here and be a blessing to the church or he could die.  What he wanted the most was to die and be in the presence of his Lord Jesus.  Paul was not afraid to die, death was the end of this life and the beginning of a new and eternal life.  He knew he would be beheaded but that didn’t seem to bother him.

When our body becomes unfit to live in, our spirit and soul will vacate it.  Our body will be buried or cremated, either way it makes no difference.  Our spirit and soul remain connected and they go to their father the devil or their Father Who art in heaven.  Spirits do not float around aimlessly, ministering angels escort the born again spirits to heaven and the throne of their Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

The Apostle Paul was caught up to heaven and he saw the holy city, long before he went there permanently.  We must perceive heaven with our faith.  Paul saw it literally, he knew what was waiting for him.  I’m not sure what heaven looks like but there is no pain, there is no sun, it is outa this world.  The minute we leave our body we will see it, we will be there.  The change is greater than we can comprehend, we could leap off the tallest building and not be harmed or we could sun bathe on the sun itself.  There is so much life the word death is forgotten, no fatigue, no pollution, no discouraging words, no taxes.

Revelation 10:6 . . . There should be time no longer.

In this life we live by our clocks, there is a time and a season for everything.  In heaven there is no time, one day is as a thousand years.  According to God’s schedule His Son was just here two days ago, to us it feels like two-thousand years.  I don’t know what it’s like to be free of time because I’m still in this body and this body is regulated by schedules.

John 10:10 . . . I am come that you might have life, and that you have it more abundantly.

In a sense Paul was warning us that we could become so heavenly minded that we would be no earthly good.  That is what Paul was dealing with.  We must take hold of the life Jesus obtained for us here and make the very best of it.  Every human life has a purpose, no one slips into this world unnoticed.  We are to demonstrate the life of Christ to a corrupt dying world.  Don’t be in a hurry to get outa here, there is an appointed time for our departure.  We will know when it’s time for departure which is far better, but until then live the life Jesus gave you.
