Have you ever seen a baby duck or goose right after it has hatched? Through instinct they will follow the first living thing they see no matter what it is. When God created man He gave him a free will and an opportunity to connect with one of two beings, God or the devil.
Romans 6:16 To whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are to whom you obey: whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness.
Adam made the decision to listen to the serpent and he knew better, God told him he would die if he ate from the tree. Adam began to follow God’s arch enemy, he could not see the devil, but when he obeyed he received the nature of his new evil stepfather. The world is full of darkness and evil because the bulk of people instinctively follow the devil and don’t even know it. The devil is the great deceiver, he will take a man into captivity and then convince him that he is free. He will tell a man great and wonderful things, all the while he leads him to death.
John 14:23 If a man love Me, he will keep My Word: and My Father will love him, and we will come into him, and make our abode with him.
A born-again Christian is one who has invited Jesus into their life, He takes up residence in their spirit. The devil is evicted but he never stops calling from afar, trying to lead us into mischief. We no longer have his nature, we must deceive our own heart in order to follow him! Remember now that God is in our hearts and He speaks to our heart, the devil is out and calls out to our mind. The devil is cunning and crafty but he is no match for our Heavenly Father.
1 Timothy 4:1 The Holy Spirit warns us in the last days many will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.
The devil can always find some dude to publish his doctrine, it worked on Adam and it works on his descendants. We must never stop letting our Lord lead us into all truth, the devil never gives up, he has nothing to lose. No matter what the devil offers a man, if that man will accept the Bible as final authority the devil will fail. One of life’s greatest pleasures is hearing the thoughts of Christ every day. One word from the Lord will change your life forever.
2 Timothy 3:13 Evil men and seducers will wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.
The devil has had thousands of years to learn what works and what does not work. One thing I have learned of the devil is he keeps coming back despite being cast out! Over the years he has learned that some folks are not as committed to Jesus as they say they are. If he persists in his attempts he can wear the child of God down and weaken them. Now you know why the Bible tells us to not grow weary in well doing. The devil puts pressure on us by telling us we need to act quickly, well ignore him, time is on our side.
