vessels of honor

When God chooses a man to represent Him as a minister, He is very selective.  Some would think He wants people who know the Scriptures or folks who have been to Bible school.  Knowing the Bible is important but there is something far more important to God.  A man can have knowledge but no integrity.  He is not honest, has weak moral principles and is not morally upright.  Such a one is not qualified to represent  Christ, they cannot be trusted to do the right thing especially under pressure.

2 Timothy 2:21 If a man will purge himself of all filthiness of the flesh, he shall be a vessel of honor, sanctified and able for the Master’s use and prepared for every good work.

God holds His ministers to a high level of uprightness, there is no grace for compromise.  I have known from day one, if I don’t do what He tells me to do, He will find someone who will.  Does God appear too harsh for you?  God will not play games with us when so many lives are at the mercy of eternity.  God will not allow His ministers to compromise the eternal life of His saints not the lives of the sinner.

Luke 6:46 Why do you call Me your Lord but do not the thing I say.

Calling God Lord does not make it so your Lord is your Master, your boss.  God is the Lord of Lords but if you are not willing to do what He says, He is not your Lord.  When a minister commits a serious compromise they cannot get back what they once had!  I know a pastor that God sent to Montana to start a church.  He was very successful, his anointing attracted nearly four hundred people as his church grew.  But he compromised, he turns his church over to another man and moved to another state.  By and by he realized he made a mistake and so he returned to Montana to restart his church.  But he could never get it off the ground, the people would not join themselves to him again.  He never regained his position, I believe God could still use him but perhaps as a staff member of another ministry.  There is always a penalty for compromise and it is always in proportion to the degree of compromise.

1 Samuel 15:23 And God said to Saul.  Because you have rejected the Word of the Lord, He has rejected you from being king.

God gave Saul an order and an anointing to carry out the command.  He was told to attack Amalek and destroy every man, woman, child and all the animals.  But Saul brought back the king and the best of the animals.  King Saul compromised and it cost him the anointing he needed to be the king.  He remained the king but he was tormented by an evil spirit and his men turned on him.  Saul was a king but he was not equipped to stand in that office.

Not all of God’s minister are called to minister.

Compromise caused Adam to lose his title as god of this world.  Compromise caused dissention and death in King David’s house and family.  Compromise cost Peter shame, guilt and a lack of self confidence.  I encourage all of us to make a quality determination to never compromise, we will be vessels of honor equipped to flow with the Holy Spirit.
