the spirit of compromise

If a husband and wife cannot agree on something, compromise could be a good thing.  If the two political parties come to an impasse, compromise can become the only solution.  But when it comes to keeping God’s Word, compromise can become a sin.

Malachi 3:13-14 Your words have been stout against Me, saith the Lord. You have said that it is vain to serve the Lord.

To know God’s will but choose another course is the epitome of compromise.  God will bless those who do His will, not those who speak it but do nothing with it.  Folks who compromise are not yet truly committed to serving their Lord.  I have no judgements against those who have become lukewarm, nor against the carnal Christian.  But I have a real problem with those who are out to convert the brethren to their pernisious ways.  No matter what your religious persuasion is, we all want to be in the majority.  We always tend to feel safer if we are the largest crowd, after all, how could so many people be in error?

Romans 16:17 I exhort you brothers, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned, and avoid them.

The Lord is not inviting us to enter into strife with one another, He just tells us to be cautious around compromisers.  In order to have a move of the Spirit we all must be dedicated to God’s will.  How can two men walk together except they be in agreement?  The Lord is advocating division in order to protect and ensure His presence in the church.  I want to believe that when compromisers see what they are missing out on, they will repent.

Tolerance is the first step to conformity.

Opposition can be a blessing in disguise if a wise man will have the courage to enquire why folks oppose their point of view.  When a point of dissention is presented and discussed, then the two parties will know where they stand.  When two different folks cannot agree with one another they will be limited in their relationship.  The strength of every group is dependent on the number of members who can agree with one another.  The devil knows that when folks are in agreement he has more than he can handle.  The devil is the spirit of division, he loves to sow the seeds of discord.

Ephesians 4:3 Endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

If every Christian believed God’s Word and agreed with Him, we would all be in unity.  Over the years many influential men have accepted a different gospel and they formed a “denomination”.  If what these men believed was true they would all be in agreement, but they all have their own view of God’s Word.  Every denomination has their own view of what God has recorded and they are adamant about what they hold to.  I always try to find out what a man believes and look for a place where we can agree.  I will never compromise the Word of our Lord for the sake of being in agreement with a man.

Just like the women who helped Jesus, I too can be like them.

God will receive my offerings and use them to build His church.

What He did for them, He will do more for me.

I don’t give donations, rather I sow seed and I will reap a harvest, so help me God.
