the sowers sow

Recently the Lord brought my attention to a Scripture that I was not understanding as He wanted me to.  I cherish these times of revelation because I have so much yet to learn.  No man can share or teach something he doesn’t know!

Galatians 6:7 A man’s harvest in life depends entirely on what he sows.  He that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

We must define and make a distinction between flesh and spirit.  Everyone sows to his flesh, if you didn’t you would die.  Eating food is sowing to the flesh, it’s corruption because no matter how much you eat you will die.  Do not feel ashamed or condemned that you will die, Adam sealed our fate when he sinned in the garden.  Adam sowed to his flesh and we are the children of his flesh, now we must become children of God.  Sowing in the flesh is doing everything apart from God, He is given no place or power.

When we sow to the spirit we acknowledge God and make a place for Him.  Eating food is sowing to the flesh, but if you give some of your food to someone who needs it more than you do, you are sowing to the spirit.  Sowing to the spirit are acts of obedience to our Lord, He will reward you in this life and in the one to come.  I don’t exactly know what the heavenly rewards are, I just know that our Bible says the faithful will be rewarded.  When we do things for Christ’s sake we sow to the spirit and we reap in the everlasting life.

2 John 1:8 Be watchful that you lose not those things which you have gained, but that you received a full reward.

If we opt out of God’s uncompromised Word and begin to adhere to another “gospel”, we could lose those things we sowed for in the spirit.  The apostle Paul on several occasions had to warn the church that the doctrine of devils was beginning to filter in.  The doctrine of devils puts no demand on our flesh, it always offers a “valid” excuse for sin!  God will bless, honor and reward all of those who will use His power to put their flesh under. God never intended for us to just “get along” with the devil, He intends for us to exercise our dominion.

1 Corinthians 9:27 I keep my flesh under and bring it into subjection: lest I should be a reprobate.

Telling our flesh “NO” is our responsibility, not God’s or the pastor’s.  People who are serious about their relationship with the Lord have no problem disciplining themselves.  Other folks who do not give the Lord preeminence are not at all that serious about acting like a child of God and it shows.  God will not be mocked, we will reap what we sow, none of us will be able to fabricate a good enough excuse for our sin.  Eternity is just too long not to take seriously, I don’t want to rob myself of what God said I could have.  We have the power and the ability to sow whatever we choose and we will reap what we sow in this life and the next.  We cannot withdraw money from a bank unless we first deposit some.  We cannot have a heavenly reward until we first sow to the spirit.
