the peace of god

The Lord offers two different applications of His peace.  The first application is peace with God.  This peace comes when a sinner receives Jesus as his Savior.  We have peace with God when He separates us from the devil, our father from our childhood.  Peace with God is always available, but you won’t know it until the devil is out of your life.  Now you will have access to the peace of God.  The peace of God is His manifest presence.

Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of God rule in your heart, to the which also you are called in one body: and be thankful.

The word rule means to be an umpire, we are called and invited to let the peace of God be a deciding factor in all our decisions.  The peace of God is conditional, you cannot visit the devil’s camp for enjoyment and expect the peace of God to function.  If a born-again Christian ignores the peace of God often enough, they will lose contact with His presence.  They will feel abandoned and rejected, but if they persist they will learn to live apart from the presence of God.  They will go back to where they were.  This is called backsliding, it’s when a person begins to go back to a life without the influence of a loving God.

Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing but in all you do, pray  with thanksgiving.  And the peace of God that passes all understanding, shall protect your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Every contact with the peace of God begins with us, God is waiting for us to make the first move.  God has made Himself available and He has put all the rules before us.  God offers His peace to whosoever will accept it, but He won’t force it on anyone!  The peace of God will be the greatest friend you will ever have because God is our peace.  We must learn to trust the peace within because He can lead us to the blessings and away from the plots of the devil.  If a man does not have the peace of God, he must rely on information fed to him from his five senses.  There is a problem here, all five senses are susceptible to deception by crafty men looking for an easy dollar.

Isaiah 55:12 You shall go out with joy and be led forth with peace.

If God says He will lead us through life with peace, then it must be a reliable witness.   I recently purchased an important item and I took three months to do it.  I researched the item to see if it was the right fit for me, but I let the peace of God be the ultimate deciding factor.  How do we do this?  By giving God the time we need to convince us of the choice we make, God knows what is best for us and what will do us no good.  He communicates to us through His peace.  If it’s of God you will feel His peace within your spirit, if it is not of God you will just know within your spirit to stay away from it.  The more you know of this peace the more you will come to trust it and rely on it to keep you on track.

    OFFERING DECLARATION
Jesus was a giver and I want to be like Him.
I don’t always know what to give but He always knows.
When I give what He tells me, I will have supernatural increase.
I will be glad to give because the Lord loves a cheerful giver.
