The devil's Ultimate Defeat

The devil used Adam’s authority to release the curse into the earth. After Jesus defeated him on the cross, he became nothing more than a “talking head”. The devil’s ultimate defeat did not take place on the cross! Jesus became the final sacrifice under the Abrahamic covenant. His death made available our forgiveness of sins, healing of our bodies, prosperity and a restored relationship to the Father God. We were delivered from the prince of darkness and translated into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son. There remained one more thing that Jesus needed to strip the devil of.

Hebrews 2:14 That through the death of  Jesus, He would destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil.

The devil had the power of death even after Jesus died on the cross and was buried. Jesus’s body was laid in a sepulcher, but His spirit was sent to hell. Every person from Adam to Christ went to hell when they died. Hell is in the belly of the earth and it is divided in two by a gulf or trench. One side of hell is the place of fire and torment the other side was a place of comfort and peace. Jesus was sent to the side of torment because He was made to be sin. Many theologians believe Jesus went to hell, but He was in Abraham’s bosom, on the comfortable side of hell.

Acts 2:24 God raised up Jesus having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that He should be retained in it.

There is such a thing as a fate worse than death, Jesus suffered for three days. He was on the torment side of hell. I wince when I think of those people who have been in hell for thousands of years and they will be there for all eternity. Jesus became sin for us and then He took our place in hell, so we will never visit the place.

Romans 8:11 If the Spirit of God that raised up Jesus from the dead, dwell in you, He will make alive your mortal bodies.

Jesus was in the torment of hell for three days and then the Holy Spirit went down there and rescued Him. The Holy Ghost took His Spirit and reunited it with Christ’s dead Body and we had a resurrection from the dead. Then Jesus went back to hell and led all those people in Abraham’s Bosom into Heaven.

This was the day of the devil’s ultimate defeat.

When Jesus rose from the dead, the devil no longer had the power of death that men were so afraid of. No born-again Christian who worships the Lord
will ever visit either side of hell. The devil is not authorized to send people to hell, nor can he put a hold on them. All men have been given the option of life or death and we choose which one we shall have. So  Jesus died for us, He went to hell for us and He was resurrected for us.
Do you know what the devil is? He’s a lame duck! He has absolutely no power and it’s just a matter of a short time and he will be permanently put out of office. All it took was for one man to escape from the pains of death. Now all those who believe are not subject to what He got victory over.
