the devil is never wrong

The Holy Bible offers us a lot of insight into the character and plots of the devil. We have enough intelligence on this rascal to deal with him effectively. In Luke's Gospel the devil interrupted Jesus as He prayed in the wilderness. Satan tempted Jesus three times trying to make Him subservient to him. Jesus resisted him and repelled him with Scripture.

Luke 4:13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from Him for a season.

Recently the Lord pointed something out to me, the devil never admits to any of his defeats. He tried Jesus three times and struck out three times, so he departed. He failed to overcome Jesus so he just left without so much as a “see ya later”. The devil is a loser but you will never hear him own up to it. The devil has been thoroughly defeated but he will never let you know how severely he was beaten.

Colossians 2:15TPT Jesus made a public spectacle of all the powers and principalities of darkness, stripping away from them every weapon and all their spiritual authority and power to accuse us. And by the power of the cross, Jesus led them around as prisoners in a procession of triumph. He was not their prisoner, they were His.

The devil is forever defeated but he will never admit it, he just acts like he is large and in charge. This is all part of his façade to convince us that he still has power over our lives. Who will we believe, him or the Word of God? The devil talks a good game but he can’t deliver unless he first convinces us that he can. Remember that he is the father of lies, therefore he is the master liar. He can’t tell the truth even if it was printed on paper. Can you imagine how confident you would be if the devil admitted that you got him good? If he will never admit defeat, how do we know we have put him in his place?

Philippians 2:10 So that at the Name of Jesus every knee shall bow (in submission) of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth.

We know the devil must respond to the Name of Jesus, it is by faith that we believe he bows to the Name. We can’t see him and we can’t hear him but God says he will bow and that’s all we need. We don’t need any physical contact, we just need faith. The devil may argue and try to debate us but we have the Word.

Luke 4:34 The devil pleaded with Jesus, let us alone, have you come to destroy us, and Jesus rebuked him.

The devils thought Jesus was going to send them back to hell but He didn’t, it was not their time. I think the devil counted it a victory that he would be allowed to continue possessing people. As long as he could continue to do his dirty work he would count it a victory. If he began to concede to defeat and admit failure, his whole demonic attitude would soften. The devil is so accomplished at deception that he even deceives himself. When the devil is finally locked away in hell forever, I don’t know if even then he will admit defeat. Perhaps all the people he put there will let him know just how defeated he is. The devil is a liar and he knows it. But do we know it? He is wily, if one lie won’t work he has millions more he can apply to people. The devil thinks he is never wrong, but if we obey him we will be wrong. Don’t wait for the devil to declare defeat, trust him like the loser he is and keep him under defeat. When we’re wrong we can get forgiven but he never can.
