The Believer's greatest Error

When Jesus ministered as a man, He did and said some strange things. When we read these accounts we don’t readily understand them, so we just pass over them. One day Jesus healed a leper, which we understand, but then what He does next is where we get lost.

Matthew 8:4 And Jesus said; go your way, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that  Moses commanded for a testimony to them.

When God established the Priesthood, He gave them a law whereby they could heal the people. By the time Jesus came on the scene the priests had compromised the Word so much they couldn’t heal anyone. They were jealous of Jesus because He was doing what they should have been doing. In the beginning a man in need of a healing would go to the priest. The priest would examine him, identify the sickness or disease, and then they would follow a prescribed ritual. After several days the sick person would be healed and the priest would pronounce him whole and healed.

Jesus was following protocol when He sent the leper to the priest. Jesus ministered as a prophet under the old covenant. The priests took it as an insult when they witnessed what Jesus was doing with the lepers. Why couldn’t the priests do what they were ordained to do? They had compromised God’s Word and made it of no effect to the priests and Pharisees because they were a “power hungry” bunch. They altered God’s Word in order to project themselves in positions of prominence. God gives grace to the humble but He resists the proud. The spiritual leaders of Israel had no grace with God.

Psalm 89:34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips.

Psalm 119:89 Forever, O Lord, your Word is settled in Heaven.

God cannot, He will not change His Word or will for anyone, not even Himself. Christians everywhere are so cavalier about altering His Word to accommodate their promiscuous lifestyles. Compromise enables man to fulfill the lusts of his flesh but it deals God out of the game. Compromise is empowered by the demon of selfishness, men who want certain things no matter the consequence. God won’t make deals with anyone, but the devil will and never keep his part of the agreement. The believer’s greatest error is compromise, a shortcut that never works.

I spent the first thirty years of my life trying to get to Heaven because my religious leaders had compromised God’s Word.  I didn’t hold them responsible because they believed the same error they were propagating.  I never got free of their “religions” until I was led to the truth and the truth made me free.

Jude 1:3 Contend earnestly for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

The devil, the great deceiver, is not sitting idly by letting the believers have free access to God’s uncompromised Word.  He can always find a man who will alter the Word of God and strip it of its power.  If you want to abound with blessings, resist every opportunity to compromise.

OFFERING DECLARATIONJust like the women who helped Jesus, I too can be like them.
God will receive my offerings and use them to build His church.
What He did for them, He will do more for me.
I don’t give donations, rather I sow seed and I will reap a harvest, so help me God.
