thank you lord

Recently I had Keith Moore in my rig preaching to me.  He said something to me that just seemed to stick in my spirit, much like porridge sticks to your ribs in the morning.  He said that when a man values God and His Word he will be thankful.  I don’t think a day has passed since my conversion, that I didn’t thank the Lord at least once if not more.

Psalm 100:4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His Name.

According to the holy Scriptures what should be the first thing out of our mouth when making contact with our Lord?  Thanksgiving!  The thanksgiving being offered here is not the superficial kind, this type of gratitude can only come from a person with a revelation of Jesus.  Any person who fully understands what Jesus endured in order to get us saved will be a person that is truly grateful.  It makes no difference who you are, no man can possibly thank the Lord enough.  We never asked Him but He took our place on the cross becoming the curse that we deserved.  And then He took our place in hell spending three days in that place of unimaginable torment.  Then He rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and created mansions for us to live in.  He did all of this while we were yet sinners and had no use for Him!

Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you are called in one body; and be thankful.

I don’t believe teaching people to be thankful is the course of action, the saints should be given all the reasons to be thankful.  When you’re truly grateful it will come out of your heart not your head.  Thank You Lord.  As I prayed this week I reminded the Lord of the only thing I ever really wanted was to go to heaven.  I wrestled with religion for the first thirty years of my life trying the “earn” a place in heaven.  The last place I ever checked with was the Bible, God’s holy Word.  In less than a minute I was born again, I was saved and filled with His precious Holy Spirit.   That day is when I became thankful, when I realized that I couldn't save myself and that only He could do so.

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with THANKSGIVING let your requests be made known unto God.

The Lord wants us to thank Him the minute we ask Him for something.  Why?  Because He does not withhold any good thing from His children.  When the devil comes and begins to unleash hell into my life I begin to thank the Lord!  Jesus doesn’t send the devil, the devil is self-employed, he is self-motivated.  No matter what the devil plots Jesus had a plan to protect me from his wiles.  Thank You Lord.  Are you grateful to the Lord?  I know you’re grateful.  Are you thanking Him every day?  Everything the Lord has done for us affects us every day of our lives, He deserves our thanksgiving.  If God never did one more thing for me as long as I live, I would still have enough reason to thank Him every day of the rest of my life.
