soliciting the voice of god

Every Christian that is born of the Spirit has an invitation to commune with God.  The first step is believing it’s His will and intent to speak to you as He did to Jesus.  If you can’t believe, then you’re not ready to converse with Him.  Now if you’re convinced it’s God’s will to hear His voice, don’t ever say “I don’t hear Him”!  Of course, we must have Scripture to enable us to believe.

John 10:4 The Lord goes before His people and His people follow Him: for they know His voice.

How can we know His voice?  He speaks to us things that no one else could possibly say.  Furthermore, He empowers us to know His voice.  I would not have you ignorant brethren concerning the voice of our Father.  When God speaks to us it will not be a foreign voice, His voice always sounds like His Word.  If you will read your Bible you will learn that God has a way of speaking no one else can imitate.  God speaks by revelation.

1 Corinthians 14:26 When you come together, every one of you has a Psalm, has a doctrine, has a tongue, has a revelation.

A Psalm, a doctrine, a tongue and a revelation are impartations from the Spirit.  Look at the text again, it says that every one of you has something from the Lord.  So, the promise of His voice is not limited to a select group of people.  What He speaks to an individual can vary depending on what that person is called to do.  But when it comes to doctrine every believer will hear the same Word.  Eliudi comes from Africa once a year and he preaches the Word of God in our church.  I marvel every time he comes because he has the same revelation we have.

Luke 11:10 Every one that asks and keeps on asking receives; and he who seeks and keeps on seeking finds; and to him who knocks and keeps on knocking, the door shall be opened.

The quickest and most sure way to hear God’s voice is to ask Him things.  Revelations are given to those who seek for them, God doesn’t bother us unless we invite Him to!  After I was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost, I prayed and studied the Word,  there were things I just didn’t understand.  I would mutter to myself and think and say “I wonder what this means”.  Well the Lord heard me and in a little while I would suddenly understand.  This went on for quite a while and then one day I realized it was the Lord Himself speaking into my Spirit.

John 16:13 When the Holy Spirit comes He will guide you into all truth: He will not talk about Himself, but whatsoever He will hear, that shall He speak.

The Father uses His Spirit to communicate with us, His Spirit speaks into our spirit if we are born again.  If you don’t believe Him you will never hear Him.  So how do you start the conversation?  Begin to ask Him questions concerning His Word and persist until you get His answer.

    OFFERING DECLARATION
Jesus was a giver and I want to be like Him.
I don’t always know what to give but He always knows.
When I give what He tells me, I will have supernatural increase.
I will be glad to give because the Lord loves a cheerful giver.
