Praying with a Purpose

God has made available, to all of His people, a variety of different prayers. Prayer is not a one size fits all kind of garment, every prayer is tailor made for each specific need. As I prayed Monday morning the Lord spoke this to me:

Prayer is the presentation of spiritual law.

So when we pray with purpose we take the laws of the Kingdom of God, and present them to a specific issue. The laws of the Kingdom are higher laws than the natural. Jesus cursed a fig tree, the fig tree was natural and subject to natural laws. When Jesus spoke to it His words were a higher law and the fig tree had to obey them.

Ephesians 6:17 And take the Word of God….18. Praying with all prayer…

If we don’t take God’s Word when we pray, our prayers have no more power than our situation. Pray with all prayer. No matter what you must deal with in your life, God has a prayer that will supersede the event. How do you know what prayer to pray? If you are a disciple of Christ and a student of His covenant, you will know His will. You can say it this way, and take the will of God praying. If you know His will then you have the prayer you need. Remember the disciples prayer, “thy will be done”! A prayer that is according to the will of God, will be accomplished by His Spirit.

Luke 18:1 And Jesus said:  men ought always to pray, and not to faint.

If we are not actually praying then we are susceptible to natural law, therefore we must rely on our own ability. If we pray always then we will always have dominion over natural law. Often times the results of our prayers are not instantaneous, often times we must be willing to stand until we see them come to fruition. Jesus exhorts us not to faint; don’t turn coward and give up on account of delays. When we pray according to His will, things begin to change. If we stop praying before all changes are complete, we invite discouragement into our lives.

If you sow a seed and you’re believing for some money God may have to speak to a hundred people before someone obeys Him! Why would God speak to a hundred people? He’s trying to bring a blessing into their lives. The one who obeys will be marked for His blessing. God is pretty quick to respond, but the people He wants to use can cause delays. When I ask God a question He is pretty prompt in answering me, but people are on a different schedule. Perhaps you’re one of those people He wants to use to bless someone else! Kenneth Copeland says:

If we are quick to respond to the Lord, He will be quick to respond to us.

Hebrews 1:3  God is upholding (carrying) all things with the power of His Word.

We uphold everything in our life with the power of our prayers, according to the will of God. If we don’t’ take the time to pray the world begins to overwhelm us, and we develop an eating disorder. The only things we should pray about daily, are the things that affect our lives. Are you reigning in life or is life raining on you? Take the Word of God praying and you will live above the evil in this world.
