our choice

A lot of people are under the impression that when they stand before God, He will decide where they will spend eternity.  This may come as a shock to you but God does not choose who goes to Heaven or hell!

Deuteronomy 30:19 I am now giving you the choice between life and death, between God’s blessing and the curse, and I call Heaven and earth to witness the choice you make.  Choose life.

So Heaven knows who belongs there and the earth, where the devil resides, knows who belongs here.  God gives every man the option and He honors every man’s choice.  Please keep in mind there is no middle ground, it’s Heaven or hell.  What if a man does not choose one or the other?

John 5:29 And the dead will come forth, they that have done good unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Our life in the flesh is very short compared to eternity and yet many make this life to be their only priority.  Men are committed to store up wealth for their eventual retirement, but they never consider where they will retire to in eternity.  There is an old cliché that many love to quote: You live like there is no tomorrow.  But there is a tomorrow and it may well be the longest day of your life.  When a man works hard all his life and he puts money back so he will reward himself for his retirement, he is wise to do so.  How many years or days will he spend in retirement? Will he have enough reward for himself?

2 John 1:8 Be on your guard so that you do not lose all that you have diligently worked for, but receive a full reward.

Heaven can be viewed as the ultimate retirement home and there are rewards there for some and there is status.  I don’t know exactly what those rewards are but they are from God so they are out of this world.  I do know that intercessors, soul winners, and the very obedient will be rewarded for all to see.  One great thing about Heaven, there are no saints that face discrimination, you are a child of God and a joint heir with Jesus.

Mathew 5:19 Whosoever breaks a commandment and teaches others to same will be called the least in Heaven.  But whosoever keeps them and teaches them will be called great in Heaven.

God is very intolerant when it comes to men violating His Word.  Why is that?  Because man does not live by bread alone but by every Word of God.  Some men will be judged differently than others.  The man who never had the opportunity to hear the Word will be judged separately from the man who chose not to hear.  God will judge the world in righteousness, in other words He will judge everyone according to His Word.  How God judges men is really none of my business, how He will judge me is my concern.  If folks will listen to us, we can lead them to the favorable judgement.  If they refuse to hear, judgement day will be the beginning of the worst day of their eternity.  When a believer chooses life, they look forward to the day of their reckoning, the day when their Heavenly Father judges them worthy of Heaven.
