liar, liar pants on fire

All men lie, some are better at it than others. I think lying is an essential part of being a politician. Lying is so common place that people have just come to accept it as a part of life. The only way to get people to believe you is to exaggerate, which is the same as lying. Jesus warned us that before His return deception would be rampant. Do you know that deception is, just another word for lies! I wonder how many people have died prematurely because someone lied to them. How serious is lying and are there acceptable lies?

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful and unbelieving, and murderers, and whoremongers, and all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire.
Who are these liars? They are people who knowingly lie and they know they shouldn't. When Kathy and I got saved we determined that we would not lie. Christmas and Easter are special to kids, but we did not tell them that Santa or the Easter Bunny were real. We would not lie to our kids. We had a great Christmas every year and at Easter our kids gathered eggs in the park. We don't need to embellish anything with lies, love is what makes it special. I had a "friend" that was one of the greatest liars you would ever hear. He once told me that he flew back from Vietnam in the General's airplane and they played pool as they flew.

Colossians 3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his bad habits.

When you become a born-again Christian you lose the luxury of telling lies. People have no regard for what a liar says. A liar has no place of prominence, except among other liars. A committed liar is a legend in his own mind. Ever wonder how a person can look you in your eyes and lie to you?

John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He abode not in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Most folks are not wise enough to come up with some of the lies they spew. Well they get help from the father of lies, he is happy to offer lies to whosoever is willing to repeat them. It is impossible for God to lie, so the father of lies is actively trying to turn the truth into a lie. If the truth is a priority and it's important to you, you will never settle for anything else. The devil is the father of lies and God is the Father of truth. We must choose who will be our Father. Jesus

did not begin His existence in Bethlehem, He was God from the beginning and He was called the Word. The Word became flesh so it was impossible for the Word to lie, even in the flesh.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, we beheld His glory, the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
In our world we have the father of lies and the Father of truth. Now we must choose which one we will accept. If we choose some of each, it's called compromise and that puts you under the jurisdiction of the father of lies. People who habitually lie have no integrity and they will attract unsavory fellows who will feed their desire to be heard. On the other hand, people who demand truth will seek out the honest among us. The truth will always triumph over the evil that lies produce. Those who demand freedom must have the truth. Brethren, do not lie one to another. Let us not open a door to the father of lies, let us remain open to the truth.
