Kill the messenger

I am not in sync with the politicians, most of them serve a different god than I do.  However, I am affected by all their decisions and laws, and so are you.  I half heartedly follow their antics and their procedures.  I have clearly noticed that one of the political parties has adopted a maneuver they use constantly.  Politics are all about discussion and compromise, but one of the parties won’t compromise unless they are forced to.  This one particular party often times cannot offer an opposing view based on facts, so they attack the other side.  If you can’t defeat your opponent in the arena of ideas then publish lies and attempt to discredit his character.  Where did they learn this evil method?

Mathew 11:18-19 John the Baptist neither ate or drank but they said he had a devil.  Jesus came eating and drinking and they accused Him of being a winebibber and a friend of sinners.

For hundreds of years politicians have discredited their opponents with lies because their opponents had too much wisdom for them to contend with.  The religious fools could not contend with the wisdom of Jesus so they attacked His integrity.  Jesus told the Jewish leaders they were of their father the devil but it didn’t even phase them.  They just offered a rebuttal based on lies.  Herein lies the problem, a lot of people accept the speeches of men based on the men’s titles.  They just accept whatever they say as truth.  Who in their right mind accepts a document and then reads it in order to find out what’s in it?

Mathew 28:11-13 The priests called the guards together and paid them to say the disciples came and took away the body of Jesus.

Sometimes lies are not convincing enough so you just pay some false witness to make your case.  Liars don’t like to be caught in their lies because then they must invent more lies to cover the ones that got them in trouble.  They never take responsibility for their lies, they just come up with an “acceptable” excuse.  After all, they are the leaders and they have a title.  People tend to flow with lies because they are sensational by nature.  They are always made to sound better than they are.  All liars are loud and boisterous, they are persistent, and they have a commitment to drown out those who speak truth.  Liars hate the truth.  It is their enemy and they hate those who love the truth, they too are enemies.

Revelation 21:8 The fearful and the unbelieving, and all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire, which is the second death.

Liars will have their place of persuasion in this life but if they don’t repent here in this life, they will never say another lie in the next life.  The only thing coming out of their mouths will be cursing and groaning, and no one will pay any attention to them.  Lying is more than convenient, it’s condemning.  Some folks cannot live apart from their lies.  Why is lying so serious?  All liars are agents of the devil, they are serving his purpose and plots.  How many people are being led away from God because leaders are lying to them?  Jesus said it would be better for a man to tie a millstone about his neck and cast it into the sea than to entice another to sin.  Why do people lie?  Because they don’t believe God, who is the epitome of truth and love.  People live in order to obtain things they have no other way of obtaining and they don’t care who they hurt.  Lord have mercy on liars.
