After Moses led Israel out of Egypt and into the wilderness, God gave him a law.  Israel had no concept of right and wrong, the law was published in order to give the people a sin consciousness.  They had no concept of sin, they did not know how to serve the God who delivered them.  The law was by no means perfect but it provided a way for them to obey and serve the Lord.

Hebrews 9:7 The high priest entered the holy of holies alone once every year with the blood of animals which he offered for himself and for the errors of the people.

God established a law in order to cover over the sins of His people, blood had to be shed for their sins.  Animals were considered innocent, so the innocent would be sacrificed for the guilty.  The blood of the animals would be a perpetual sacrifice because it had no power to change the sinner.  Israel had no idea what God was doing for all mankind, He introduced the law of substitution and they thought it would be forever.

Deuteronomy 21:22-23 If a man be sentenced to death you will hang him on a tree: for he that is hanged on a tree is cursed of God, that your land be not defiled.

Now God introduces a new law of substitution and once again the people had no clue what He was planning.  They liked this law, because God would speak “their” curse over the man hanging on the tree and they would be exempt from the curse.  When Adam disobeyed in the garden, he released the curse into our world.  Now, according to the law of substitution, God would speak Adam’s curse over a dead man hanging on a tree.  God introduced many laws that would ultimately benefit generations to come.  He was obligated to bless us because He told Abram that in him all the families of the earth would be blessed.  Now let’s go into our time and dispensation and watch God bring everything to a final conclusion.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinner and come short of the glory of God.

So, based on these Scriptures all of us have sinned and all of us deserve to be hanged on a tree!  God is true to His Word, He makes no exemption for anyone, all of us are guilty and should be hanged on our tree.

John 1:29 John saw Jesus coming to him and he said, behold the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world.

Jesus would be the last sacrifice, according to the law of Moses He was the only man beside Adam that was born righteous.  He was God’s innocent Lamb and He would be hanged on a tree where His blood would not just cover but wash away all our sins.  His Father would speak the curse we were destined for over His own Son because of the law of substitution.  And what does God expect of us?  Only believe.  If you believe and you say so, then He is your Savior and you will live with Him forever.  Amen.
