got a prayer life?

Every born-again Christian must have a good prayer life.  Prayer keeps God involved in our life.  God does not invite Himself into our life, we must ask Him for His involvement.  God does not respond to all prayer because not all prayer is acceptable.  Just because it sounds spiritual and godly, it doesn't mean it is.  This will sound crude, but some prayers are nothing more than hot air and a waste of time.

James 5:16 The earnest, heartfelt, continued prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available, dynamic in its working.

If we will pray the prayers prescribed in the Bible, we should see the effects in our daily lives.  It is very possible to pray amiss, these are worthless prayers.  These kind of prayers usually are motivated by greed or revenge, not love or the promise of God.  Some Christians never learn, they just continue to practice the same errors time and time again.  And when they receive no positive response, they blame God or claim it just isn't His will.  It’s never their fault, so they cannot be corrected, furthermore they cannot be taught.  These folks are the devil’s favorite prey, they are easy pickens for him.

Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, praying.

Prayer is so important to God that He did not entrust men to write their own prayers.  He recorded the prayers we should pray for maximum effect.  In school some times our teacher would give us an “open book” test, these were my favorites because you just recorded what the book said.  Only an idiot could flunk an open book test!  Every test we face in life is an open book test, we will easily pass the test if we will just open the book and find the answers.  God’s Word never changes, His will never changes, so His prayers will never change.  Occasions will change but not Him and not His will.

Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered the devil, it is written that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word of God.

Jesus used the Word of God to pass the test of the temptation of the devil.  He quoted something Moses said hundreds of years before, He took the Word of God praying.  The devil had no choice but to submit to the words of Jesus; the devil has no weapons he can use against God’s Word.  The devil can dispute some of the prayers “Christians” fabricate.

James 4:3 You ask and receive not, because you ask amiss (worthless) that you may consume it upon your lusts.

God’s Word is always effective if the motive is in line with His will.  Why is this?  God confirms His Word with signs and wonders, not mans!  God does not feed our fleshly lusts, He answers prayer according to His will when spoken in faith.  The more prayers you pray, the more answers you receive.  If we don’t have a prayer life, God has nothing to offer us, He just stands idly by.  I don’t understand Christians who don’t pray but expect God to show up and perform some miracles.  Got a prayer life?  Well, you need to.
