god blesses the obedient

Everyone would love to have God bless them with all kinds of blessings.  A lot of people don’t understand why He doesn’t bless them like He does others.

Genesis 1:28 God blessed Adam and Eve and said to them, be fruitful and multiply, replenish the earth and subdue it, and have dominion.

Adam was created in God’s image so he was perfect in every aspect, he would walk in the blessing.  God has only one blessing and Adam was the first recipient.  God gave Adam one command in order to prove to God that he loved Him.  Adam disobeyed and he was kicked out of the garden.  In other words, he was removed from the blessing.  Twenty-one hundred years later God talks to a man called Abram.  God tells him that if he will obey Him, He will bless him and his seed.  Abram consented to God’s offer and just like Adam he was given a command to prove to God that he loved Him.  Abram was told to offer up his only son and Abram agreed.  Abram proved that He loved God and so the Lord began to bless him.

Galatians 3:9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Everyone who lives by faith is blessed with the same blessings God gave Adam and then restored to Abram.  What is this faith?  It is believing the Word of God to the degree that you live according to His Word.  The Jews were given the ten commandments to obey but their evil flesh sold them out.  Since the death and resurrection we only have one commandment.  Love God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself and you will have fulfilled all ten commandments.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to them that love Him.

Notice the catch phrase; the one thing that qualifies us to receive the blessing.  We must love God.  A lot of men say they love God but they are lying!  Jesus said this: If you love Me, keep my commandments.  Telling God you love Him means nothing if you don’t obey Him.  Obedience is never an accident, it’s a decision that the devil will test every day of your life.  Obedience can be so difficult that God has to help those who are dedicated to Him.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God which works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.

The devil would say, it’s not fair that God helps people to obey Him.  Well, it’s not fait that the devil comes to tempt God’s children.  God has the right and spiritual authority to help his kids to be successful.  God is doing for us what good parents would do for their children, that is never wrong.  God is not willing to stand by and let a killer abuse His family.  But now if a family member won’t obey Him, then there is nothing he can do to help them.

Hebrews 7:25 Jesus is able to help us because He ever liveth to make intercession for us.

God never gives up on us no matter how naughty we become.  He is committed to His kids.  Having trouble obeying?  Ask your Heavenly Dad for help.  He wants you to succeed because He wants to bless you.
