focus

I believe the devil is the master manipulator, he gets us to focus on things that just don’t contribute to the scheme of things.  When we focus on things we assign to them the highest priority.  A man who has learned to focus is not easily distracted by things that just don’t matter.  One day Jesus healed an impotent man and then told him to take up his bed and walk away.  Jesus did what the Father told Him to do, He healed this incurable man on the Sabbath and the Jews were not happy about it.

John 5:10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, it is the Sabbath day: it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.

Jesus worked a mighty miracle but the Jews focused on the keeping of the law.  The Jews were so bent on keeping the law that they neglected to realize that if they kept it they would be protected from the curse.  Jesus was the only man who kept the law so He could deliver those who were under the curse.  Jesus told the Jews that they were of their father the devil, and the works of their father they would do.  Religion is the devil’s substitute for the divine will of God, it gives the participants a false sense of security.

Luke 10:41 And Jesus said: Martha, Martha, you are careful and troubled about many things.

Jesus came to Martha’s house to teach them the Father’s will, but Martha got focused on serving all the people who came to hear Him.  How many of us have sat in a church service and received nothing because we were worried about something that we could have dealt with later after we had been built up?  There is a reason God tells us to roll all our cares over on Him, it’s so we can focus on the answers to our problems from hearing the Word.  Somethings are just out of our control, like the behavior of other people.  It makes no sense to worry about things you cannot change, so why focus on them.  I don’t believe anyone told Martha to serve the people, she assumed the responsibility and the care of it all.

Psalm 37:5 Roll the care of your ways unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.

The Lord is making us an offer we would be foolish to refuse, He is offering to take the responsibility of all our cares.  But!  In order to do this we must be willing to trust Him because He always does things differently than we would.  Furthermore, God’s time table is not the same as ours, we always want solutions immediately.  He doesn’t operate on our schedule.  It takes practice and a commitment to give God our problems to solve, but with a certain tenacity we can get there.  Start with small things and learn to put your trust in Him, your goal is to put your life in His hands without reservation.  If you cannot put all your trust in the Lord, you don’t know who your Lord is!  Focus on what is important, don’t get side tracked by the things that you cannot control.  Folks who cannot focus on the prize can become a burden to those who are focused on their objective.  If you’re focused on thus saith the Lord, you will have the peace of God.

OFFERING DECLARATIONJust like the women who helped Jesus, I too can be like them.
God will receive my offerings and use them to build His church.
What He did for them, He will do more for me.
I don’t give donations, rather I sow seed and I will reap a harvest, so help me God.
