Fire for effect

Mark 4:26 And Jesus said, so is the Kingdom of God, as if man should sow seed into the ground.

It was Jesus Himself that gave us the law of seed, time and harvest.  I don’t think we have fully comprehended how important this law is to our lives.  We can have whatever we want if we are willing to sow a seed.  This law did not originate with Jesus, it was part of the blessing God pronounced over Adam in the garden.  God created man, put him in the garden and then gave him every kind of seed imaginable.  Today we are in the same garden but now it’s called the Kingdom of God.  So we have a place to sow and God is still giving us the seed to plant.

The military has a term they use in the field, it’s called “fire for effect”.  Primarily it means to lob a shell in the vicinity of the target and then make the necessary adjustments to hit the mark.  So when we commit to be sowers we may not sow in the best possible place, we might miss the mark.  We must never become discouraged and give up on our God given lifestyle.  The first time we planted a garden we didn’t get much but we kept at it and we got better.  God tends to give seed to tithers and they are not the same thing.  The tithe belongs to the Lord, the seed is ours to sow and reap.  Tithers live under an open heaven where the rain can water the seed and make it grow.

Malachi 3:11 I will rebuke the seed eater for your sakes and he shall not destroy the harvest from your ground.

We understand that once we sow, the Lord will protect our seed and prevent the devil from tampering with it.  One day I gave a man a hundred dollars to help him with a trip he was taking.  A week later a man sent me a hundred dollars, I thought to myself that was sure a fast return!  But then the Lord spoke to me and said I had gained nothing, He said that He was getting my seed back to me.  He went on to tell me that the man was not good soil so He was protecting my seed for another time.  I fired for effect but I missed the mark, then the Lord helped me to get sighted in and hit the bullseye.

2 Corinthians 9:7 Let every man according as he purposes in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loves a cheerful giver.

Can you now understand how the devil discourages us from sowing for several reasons?  Giving requires faith and the devil’s greatest threat is our faith.  He does not want us to receive from God because we will give Him all the glory.  Furthermore, he wants us to toil and not let the Lord bless us, his goal is to discredit the Lord and His Word.  Finally, when he goes after our seed the Lord rebukes him and he gets nothing.  Every time the Lord blesses us He gets the glory and the devil is the great loser.  The more we sow the more we reap and our confidence grows and becomes more of a problem for the devil.  I love to make my Lord glad and the devil sad.  God gave us His laws, He just needs people who are willing to operate in them.  So fire for effect and fire again until you hit the mark.
