Dealing with your enemies

All of us along the path of life have made some enemies, some were our own fault and others just don’t like us.  We all dream of doing a “Rambo” on their skull but they’re dreams that never come true.  God says to back off because vengeance belongs to Him, but He never seems to get around to it.  God has a way to help us that is totally contrary to anything we could dream up but we must be willing to trust Him.  He led me to His way of doing things when seven sheep in my church voted and decided I was the devil.

Mathew 5:44 Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you.

This sounds just like God, doesn’t it?  He never lets us retaliate with our hands nor our words.  When He gave me this Scripture I didn’t understand His instructions.  How do you pray for an enemy and bless them?  I thought that if I didn’t understand, I wouldn’t be held accountable.  But He heard my thoughts and He gave me a Word, “Whatever you want Me to do for you, pray I do the same for your enemies.”  So I began to pray, Lord bless my enemies with building funds, finances, people, revelations, favor and whatever they need.

Mathew 7:12 All things whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you even so to them: this is the law and the prophets.

I always think God’s ways are peculiar, but I have enough faith to believe Him and to do what He says.  Why would I pray for my enemies to have building funds when they had no inclination to build anything?  As I continued to pray for them, the building funds I needed increased!  The Lord was blessing me despite my lack of sowing.  I inquired of the Lord one day as to why He was blessing me so much.  His response was, “All of those things you prayed for your enemies to have were not received, so I gave them all to you.”  This is all part of God’s master plan for our lives, we just need to have the courage to obey Him.

Luke 6:29 Unto him that smites you on one cheek offer also the other.

The text says offer the other cheek.  It doesn’t tell us to let them smack us.  There will come a time when pacifism is not the answer, especially when it comes to protecting our families.  The Apostle Paul compares Christians to soldiers.  Well, soldiers are not pacifists.  There is a time to pray for your enemy and there is a time to use more conventional means.  Christians are the most powerful fighters in the world.

2Corinthians 10:4 The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.

The world is very fearful of demons and possessed people, they have no might against this invisible force.  No devil nor satan himself is any match for a spirit filled Christian.  We are not wimps, God has just given us a better way than the violence of the world.  Not only will we whip our enemies but we will prosper in the process.
