Boasting

When a believer begins to live by faith, their whole vocabulary will change.  The believer becomes very positive because they openly speak God’s Word.  The unbeliever can be offended at the confessions of a believer because they believe that all men should have lack together.  Who do you think you are?  Are you better than the rest of us?  They misinterpret the believer’s confidence for arrogance.  Boasting is acceptable if it lines up with the Word of God.

Psalm 34:2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the
humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

It is perfectly acceptable for a believer to boast (testify) of what God is doing in their lives.  Some of them will be glad to hear of the wonderful works of the Lord, while others will not believe anything you say.  Their hearts are hardened towards God through the ignorance in them.

Mathew 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs (infidels) neither cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and then turn and rend you.

There are certain people in this world that are totally closed off to God.  There is nothing we can say that they accept.  If you boast of what your Lord has done, they will mock you and speak evil of your character.  You may try it once, but once you discover their heart you must set boundaries.  Some folks are so hard hearted, God Himself cannot reach them.  These folks need intercessory prayer.

John 3:11 I say unto you, we speak that we do know and testify that we have seen; and you receive not our witness.

This is Jesus speaking to the most religious man in Israel; Nicodemus was struggling to believe Jesus was the Messiah.  Who will these people believe?  They will believe those that tickle their ears.  In other words,  they will hear what they want to hear.  When a Christian testifies of the Lord, the unbeliever perceives it as them boasting of themselves.  When a believer hears another believer boasting of their Lord, they are glad and the two rejoice together.

2 Timothy 3:1-2 In the last days perilous times will come.  Men will love only themselves, boasters, proud, unthankful and unholy. . .

We are in these days. These are perilous times, the amplified Bible calls them days hard to deal with and hard to bear.  These were at one time believers, people who walked with the Lord.

2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form (appearance) of godliness, but  deny His power, from such turn away.

These folks have lost their fear of God and they don’t care what anyone thinks of it.  They do not boast of the Lord; they boast only of themselves.  They may appear as Christians but not the Bible kind.  They all care about themselves.  So go ahead and boast about your Lord and Savior.  You will find those who agree with you and those who don’t.  My boast is in the Lord.
