The Bible has many references to prosperity and yet many Christians do not yet understand God’s will. When was God’s will that men should prosper?
Genesis 1:28-29 And God blessed man and gave him power to replenish the earth. And then God gave man every seed.
God considered Adam and Eve members of His family so He gave them a heritage from Heaven itself. Men have a cliché concerning people who are born in a wealthy family, they are said to be born with a silver spoon in their mouth. It was God’s will that Adam be born with a “silver spoon” in his mouth. God has no problem with men having wealth, but those who have less than others have an issue with others having more than they do. What happened to Adam’s heritage? Why was he kicked out of God’s kingdom? Wealth never disappears, it gets redistributed.
John 10:10 The thief comes to kill, destroy and steal: I am come to give you abundance.
When Adam disobeyed God he let his guard down. He let a creature he was given dominion over rob him of everything God gave him. God did not change His mind, He always wanted His covenant men to prosper and be in health. God had to deal with two issues: a thief and ignorant men who accepted poverty and lack as a way of life. The devil has convinced a lot of Christians that money is the root of all evil and God hates wealth. I came from a Catholic background where I was taught that poverty was the sacrament of humility, therefore I had a junkyard mentality. If I would have read the Bible I would have seen that God’s will for me is the abundant life. I want to give you the Bible definition of prosperity but in my own words.
Prosperity - the process of God restoring to His covenant people what He gave them in the Garden of Eden.
The wealth God gave man in the beginning has not vanished, it’s just in the hands of the wrong people. The thief robbed God’s man of his wealth and then transferred it into the hands of his own seed. The devil has no problem stealing wealth from Christians who are ignorant of God’s will. No one can prosper with the things of God until they know God’s will.
Proverbs 13:22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
The devil took our wealth and gave it to his people, those folks have no regard for God or His Word. They have the wealth that God has earmarked for His people. They are using our prosperity to buy drugs, abort babies and support ungodly politicians who pass laws that are immoral.
Acts 3:21 Heaven will hold Jesus back until all things are restored to God’s people.
We are in the times of restoration, God is causing the wealth of sinners to end up in the hands of His covenant people. God loves all men but He does not have a covenant with all men. Those in covenant will be blessed and empowered to prosper.
