Simeon

Shortly after the birth of Jesus, His parents brought Him to the temple in Jerusalem.  It was a custom under the law to bring sons to the temple and dedicate them to the Lord.  As they entered the temple they were met by a man called Simeon, a just and devout man.  The Holy Ghost revealed to Simeon that he would not die until he saw the Messiah.  Simeon spent much of his time in the temple praying and looking for the Lord’s Christ.  So, when Joseph and Mary brought Jesus to the temple the Holy Spirit revealed to Simeon that Jesus was the one he was waiting to see.

Luke 2:29-30 Lord, now let me your servant depart in peace, according to your word.  For my eyes have seen the Messiah, the Christ.

This is the only account of Simeon in the Bible, he died and went to the bosom of Abraham.  Simeon saw what he was praying for but he did not see all the works of Jesus.  The Lord has instructed us to pray for a move of the Spirit beyond anything we have ever seen.  A move of the Spirit is coming, those of us who are praying for it may not be here to see it, we may be with Simeon in heaven.  This generation of believers is currently walking in the revelations and prayers of Oral Roberts, Kenneth Hagin, Smith Wigglesworth and many other servants of our Lord.  The rewards they have now far exceed what they prayed for us to have.  They are still reaping the rewards from the revelations they imparted to us that we are walking in.

Romans 1:11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end you may be established.

The Apostle Paul had a great desire to see the church in Rome to share a revelation the Lord gave him.  The revealed Word of the Lord would strengthen the church, it would confirm what the Lord gave them to do and to expect a move of the Lord.  When the church hears what the Lord has planned for them, they are filled with hope and expectation.  If we continue on with what we have with no hope of more, we will become religious.  We do not have nor have we seen everything the Lord has prepared for us.  We must be like Simeon, we must remain in the presence of the Lord and pray for a move of the Spirit.  We may not be the one’s who see it but the Lord is coming in power for His people.

Acts 3:21 Heaven will not release Jesus to come for His people until the times of restoration of all things, that the prophets said would come.

We must not be caught off guard thinking God wants to do something totally foreign to the church.  The old covenant prophets have prepared us for such a time as this.  God has done great and wonderful things and He is not nearly done.  So, we must not become complacent.  Let us continue to believe and pray for God’s perfect will, the world needs a move of His Spirit
