The law of first mention is a term the men of God have introduced to explain some supernatural events we have today.  Let’s look at some examples of the operation of this law.  Kenneth Hagin, Jesse Duplantis and Keith Moore all claim that God took them individually to heaven.  Immediately most folks labeled these men as heretics and false prophets.  Is it possible for a man to go to heaven, if there is such a place, and return to this natural world?  In order to answer this question, we must find the first time this was mentioned.

2 Corinthians 12:2 I knew a man, I couldn’t tell if he was in his body or not, such a man was caught up to the third heaven.

According to the law of first mention, Paul was taken up to heaven and given some revelation the church desperately needed.  If God would take Paul to heaven, why couldn’t He take Kenneth, Keith and Jesse?  The law of first mention establishes a pattern of God’s activities.  Are we obligated to believe these men? No!  Could they be telling the truth?  Did they really go to heaven?  I believe they did.  These are men of integrity and they do not ask anyone to believe them, they are simply sharing their experience.  Paul undoubtedly went to heaven and we must believe him because God had his event recorded in the Bible.  Smith Wigglesworth raised fourteen people from the dead.  Do you believe it?

Acts 9:40 Peter knelt down over Tabitha who had just died, he prayed over her and she arose from the dead.

Once again, according to the law of first mention, Peter raised a woman from the dead.  If Peter, Paul and Jesus did it, then Mr. Wigglesworth could also do it.  Any born-again spirit filled believer could raise someone from the dead, if God told them to.  Often times we will read accounts in the Bible that don’t appear to mean anything to us, but those incidents could first be mentioned for a reason.

Genesis 26:12 Isaac sowed his seed in a land during a drought and received in that same season a hundred fold return.

This is not just another miracle, Isaac was used to establish a law of first mention.  Most times where the Lord leads us to sow a seed the amount seems wrong, the place isn’t right and the timing is all off.  But according to the law of first mention Isaac reaped a huge harvest at a time when no one else would think of planting anything.  One night we took some pastors out to dinner and at the end the Lord told me to give the waitress all of my money, it was only about twenty-four dollars.  The next Sunday a local pastor sent his associate to give me five thousand dollars, I believe that’s a hundred-fold return.

John 14:12 I tell you the truth, the miracles I have worked, you will do also and you will do greater because I return to the Father.

Everything Jesus did comes under the category of the law of first mention.  If He did it we can do it and even more.  If you ever question your assignment, find the law of first mention and then proceed.

    PRAYER FOCUS
    TAKING INVENTORY

We are about to embark on the greatest adventure and outpouring of God’s Spirit! This month the Holy Spirit is asking us to examine ourselves/take           inventory so as God’s Vessels we can take our part and place in the Body of Christ!

    Scriptures to meditate on:

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

Psalm 26:4 Lord you can scrutinize me. Refine my heart and probe my every thought. Put me to the test and you will find it is true.

2 Cor 10:6 It is written, and having a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

1 Peter 4:17 For judgement begins at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Psalm 139: 23, 24 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me of unbelief and lead me in the way everlasting.

2 Timothy 2:4 No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of (civilian) life: his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him (God)! DO ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD!
