The last days began on the day of Pentecost, two thousand years ago, now we are in the last of the last days.  From the day of Pentecost until now there have been signs in the heavens and signs in the earth beneath.  With each passing century the signs pointing to the return of Jesus have increased.  Every new day is one day closer to the return of Jesus.  Will we be the ones who see Him in the clouds or will it be our children, perhaps it will be our grandchildren?  We know for sure and for certain, that just before He comes the world will be over their head in wickedness.  Scripture tells us that perilous times are here, men will be self centered, loving pleasure more than God Himself.  They will deceive the weak, those who have no foundation of faith.

2 Timothy 3:7 (KJV) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

2 Timothy 3:7 (TPT) They are always learning but never discover the revelation - knowledge of truth.

Learning good information does not always translate into success, there is knowledge and then there is working knowledge.  The world is full of information but not all of it is truth, it is someone’s interpretation or opinion.  It is very possible to learn a lot of things that will never benefit you in the kingdom of God.  One of the most common places that distribute useless information are churches, they teach “religion” which is man’s idea of what God may have said.  The Jews were so full of the doctrine of the scribes, pharisees, Sadducees and priests that God had to send a prophet called John to prepare the people for Messiah.  The purpose of false doctrine is to put men in bondage to the one dispensing the false information.

Mathew 5:20 Jesus says: except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

The scribes and pharisees were doctors of the law, they were the best educated theologians of the time, but knew nothing of God’s plan of redemption.  You could learn a lot from these men but it wasn’t always the truth.  A deceiver is qualified to teach only deception, if they knew the truth they would share it.

Mathew 7:28-29 The people were amazed at Jesus because He taught as one having authority and not as the scribes and pharisees.

Despite all the miracles Jesus performed, the Jewish leaders were able to convince the people that Jesus was a false prophet.  The people were taught many things but little truth, not all of them prospered from the ministry of Jesus.  Some folks are slow to learn, many of our churches today welcome the teaching ministry of the scribes and pharisees.  The people Jesus came to save were church people full of knowledge but little truth.  Isaiah and Moses warned the people that when they would reject Jesus as Messiah, He would turn to the gentiles.  The easiest people in the world to teach the truth to are those folks who have never been indoctrinated with religion.  Many folks know something about God but not many know Him on a personal level.  Do you know the truth or are you filled with what man calls truth?  If you’re free, you know the truth.

    Scriptures to meditate on:

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

Psalm 26:4 Lord you can scrutinize me. Refine my heart and probe my every thought. Put me to the test and you will find it is true.

2 Cor 10:6 It is written, and having a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

1 Peter 4:17 For judgement begins at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Psalm 139: 23, 24 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me of unbelief and lead me in the way everlasting.

2 Timothy 2:4 No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of (civilian) life: his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him (God)! DO ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD!
