When God created man He blessed him and put him in a fully equipped garden.  God gave His man one simple command, do not eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  Why did God put Adam in this predicament?  It was not a precarious situation at all.  Adam had ultimate dominion in the earth, God just had to know if Adam loved Him or if he loved the life God gave him.  God said: “If you love me you will keep My commandments”.  Adam didn’t love His Lord enough to obey Him.

Genesis 3:17 Because you listened to the voice of your wife and ate from the tree, cursed is the ground because of you.

God never stopped loving Adam but He couldn’t do anything for him because he was no longer His servant.  Adam and all of his descendants would be under the curse, but God had a plan to deliver all men from this wretched curse.

Genesis 12:3 God speaks to Abram and says, I will bless them that bless you and curse them that curse you.

God is love, He does not go around cursing people who He disagrees with, so how does the blessing and cursing work where Abram is concerned?  God said: “Whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them, this is the law”.  God implemented a law beginning with Abram and then Moses, if you bless people you will be blessed, if you curse people you will be cursed.  God spoke His law to the prophets and when the prophets spoke them in the earth they became the laws of the land.  Another law the prophets spoke was this: “cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”.  God had to be clever in order to initiate His laws because Adam made satan the god of this world.  God’s plan from the beginning was to destroy the works of the devil and restore His fellowship with mankind.

Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is everyone that is hung on a tree (cross).

The law was a long list of dos and don’ts.  Why did God give it to His people?  The law was an opportunity for God’s people to obey Him and avoid being a servant of the devil.  But no one could keep the law because the people had the nature of their father the devil, so they could not do what they wanted to do.  The only way to be redeemed from the curse is to be redeemed from the nature of the devil, and be given the nature of the Lord Himself.  Being redeemed from the curse is a small matter, having the nature of God is a great miracle, it’s like being born-again all over for the first time.  The curse has no place, no power over a born-again child of God.  Don’t focus on the curse but rather on who you are in Christ Jesus, it should be just as difficult for the devil to afflict you as he would Jesus Himself.  In the flesh we are the descendants of Adam, but in the Spirit we are descendants of the Lord Jesus.  There is no condemnation, no curse for them who live after the Spirit and not the flesh.  The curse is not our heritage but the blessings are.  Enjoy!

    PRAYER FOCUS
    TAKING INVENTORY

We are about to embark on the greatest adventure and outpouring of God’s Spirit! This month the Holy Spirit is asking us to examine ourselves/take           inventory so as God’s Vessels we can take our part and place in the Body of Christ!

    Scriptures to meditate on:

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

Psalm 26:4 Lord you can scrutinize me. Refine my heart and probe my every thought. Put me to the test and you will find it is true.

2 Cor 10:6 It is written, and having a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

1 Peter 4:17 For judgement begins at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Psalm 139: 23, 24 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me of unbelief and lead me in the way everlasting.

2 Timothy 2:4 No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of (civilian) life: his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him (God)! DO ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD!
