From the day God and Adam parted ways, He always wanted to be reconnected to His covenant people.  God sent Moses to deliver His people out of Egypt and from the gods of Egypt.  Because Abraham obeyed God, God now had a covenant family that numbered over two million.  But there was a problem, the whole nation of Israel was spiritually dead, they were not worthy of God despite the love He carried for them.

Exodus 25:8 And God said, let Israel make Me a sanctuary (Arc); that I may dwell among My people.

God was bound by His Word.  What fellowship has righteousness (God) with unrighteousness (Israel)?  And what communion has light with darkness?  So, He commissioned the construction of the Arc of the Covenant.  The Arc was a fancy box lined with animal skin, jewels and precious metals.  When it was completed they had a ceremony and the Holy Spirit entered the Arc to dwell among the people.  The Arc had four brass rings on the outside so the priests could insert two poles and carry it around.  One day during a raid the Philistines carried the Arc to their city and they all came down with hemorrhoids.  David and his men went to the city of the Philistines and retrieved the Arc.

2 Samuel 6:6 They put it on a cart pulled by oxen.  As they went the Arc began to sway, a man named Uzzah reached up to steady the Arc and he was struck dead.

Mishandling the Arc was a serious offense, no man was worthy to make contact with the occupant in the Arc.  The people wanted God but they had to understand that He was not touchable.  It was the best God could do considering the circumstances, a limited relationship was better than no relationship.  Hundreds of years later the prophesy of Isaiah is fulfilled, a virgin gives birth to a man child.

Luke 2:12 You shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

Jesus is the Son of God that was born a human being, He could be touched and handled just like any man.  Jesus was the express image of His Father.  He said this: “If you see Me, you see My Father”.  No one had seen God, He appeared as smoke and fire but not as He is.  Moses asked to see His glory, God put him between some rocks, covered his eyes, and His goodness passed by Moses.

John 14:23 Jesus said: if a man love Me, he will keep My Words and My Father will love him, and We will come unto him, and make Our abode with him.

God the Holy Spirit was in the Arc of the covenant, we are the new Arc of the covenant.  God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit live inside of us and He gave us His life.  The vessel of God is pure and spotless, the Lord Himself had to clean our house before He took up residence.  How did He clean our house?  He forgave all our sins and imparted His righteousness to us.  God so loved the world that He gave us the gift of righteousness, we just need to accept His gift and open it up.  Merry Christmas.

    PRAYER FOCUS
    TAKING INVENTORY

We are about to embark on the greatest adventure and outpouring of God’s Spirit! This month the Holy Spirit is asking us to examine ourselves/take           inventory so as God’s Vessels we can take our part and place in the Body of Christ!

    Scriptures to meditate on:

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

Psalm 26:4 Lord you can scrutinize me. Refine my heart and probe my every thought. Put me to the test and you will find it is true.

2 Cor 10:6 It is written, and having a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

1 Peter 4:17 For judgement begins at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Psalm 139: 23, 24 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me of unbelief and lead me in the way everlasting.

2 Timothy 2:4 No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of (civilian) life: his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him (God)! DO ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD!
