The Living Dead

According to the Word of God, a sinner is spiritually dead.  They more resemble a zombie than a man.  Death in the Bible is always defined as separation, so the spiritually dead have no connection with the Lord.  They look like every other man but they are not in the image of God.  If the sinner dies in his sin he will be dead for eternity and he will abide with his father the devil.  God has never lost His love for the living dead and so He has made a way for them to come alive.

Romans 6:13 Do not yield yourselves as vessels of unrighteousness unto sin: but surrender your life to God, as those that are alive from the dead and    become a vessel of righteousness unto God.

The living dead need a miracle and the only one who can give them what they need is the Lord Jesus.  No one in their right mind would ever refuse such an offer.  Far too many folks are deceived.  How absurd is it that the living dead resist so adamantly to surrender their worthless lives to the one who offers them life.  We all understand this because we were the living dead, we were in the world without Christ, having no hope.  When the living dead come to Christ, He gives them eternal life and then things get strange!

Romans 6:3, 8 When we are baptized in Jesus Christ, we are baptized into His death.  If we be dead with Christ, we shall also live with Him.

So let’s get this straight, we are spiritually dead and Jesus gives us eternal life and then He wants us to die again?  If you try to understand this with the natural mind you will alter what the Holy Spirit wants you to know.  Jesus died because He was made to be sin.  We were dead because we were sinners.  When Jesus arose from the dead He was given a glorified body that sin can never affect again.  Now Jesus wants all those who are born again to consider themselves dead when it comes to sin.  Sin has no effect on a dead man.  The new man is focused on the life of Christ in him.  Something happened to us at the new birth that when properly understood, we know sin has lost its’ power over our lives and we can resist it like a man in a grave.

We are dead to sin, in other words we are no longer sensitive to the temptation of engaging in what once controlled our lives.  As far as we are concerned the devil is a failure because we reckon ourselves dead to his attempts.  Eternal life does not begin in Heaven.  If you are born again, eternal life has begun in you.  The devil wants us to reconsider, but let him wear himself out trying to convince a dead man to die.

Galatians 5:24 They that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the passions and lusts.

The devil was kicked out of the spirit realm.  He is a flesh devil and that’s what he targets, but if we nail our flesh to the cross he has nothing to work with.  Satan’s plan is to get us to go to the cross and justify our flesh.  We should go to the cross to worship the finished work of Christ because that is where the devil was defeated for our sake.

    Scriptures to meditate on:

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

Psalm 26:4 Lord you can scrutinize me. Refine my heart and probe my every thought. Put me to the test and you will find it is true.

2 Cor 10:6 It is written, and having a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

1 Peter 4:17 For judgement begins at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Psalm 139: 23, 24 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me of unbelief and lead me in the way everlasting.

2 Timothy 2:4 No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of (civilian) life: his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him (God)! DO ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD!
