the great trespass

There are a lot of things Christians and sinners can do to oppose the God of love.  One day Kenneth Copeland prayed to the Lord and said: Lord I hate the devil.  What is the worst thing I can do to him?  The Lord replied: Just do him like you do Me, don’t believe a word he says!  The great trespass is not believing what God says or altering His Word to accommodate your lifestyle.

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine; but after their own lusts they shall heap to themselves teachers having itching ears.

These folks want the blessings of God but not the laws that assure us of those blessings.  In other words, they want to appease the flesh Jesus dies for and they want the Lord to bless them without commitment to obedience.  This sounds like some of the spoiled children I know, they reserve the right to be brats and insist on mom and dad giving them what they want.

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God will not be mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.

You can fool mom and dad but no one will make a fool of God!  All of us will reap exactly what we sow, no one can fabricate a good enough excuse to escape judgement.  I am totally convinced that on the great day of our Lord, when we look into His eyes, we will be gazing into the Spirit of Truth.  The Bible says He will judge the secrets of men, we won’t be able to hide anything from Him.  So, when should we adapt the policy of honesty?  Now before we stand before Him or wait for that day to come?  Some folks are unnecessarily fearful of God, they are afraid to admit their faults.  I have news for you, God knows we are weak and He knows all about our encounters with the devil.  He can be touched with the feelings of our infirmities if we are honest, we cannot hide from God what He clearly sees.

1 Corinthians 15:2 You are saved if you hold fast to the gospel that that I preached to you, unless you have believed in vain.

Does God mean what He says or is this open to private interpretation?  If God is the very God of truth, how can we alter His Word to appease the lusts of our flesh!  Some folks think they have the perfect alibi but they are only deceiving themselves.  One day a man asked Kenneth Copeland what he thought of “once saved, always saved”.  His response was “I don’t think about it, I don’t want out”.

There is a time for fun and games but not with Jesus, we must be as serious as a train wreck.  Our eternity is on the line, currently we are living in the shortest span of our life.  The decisions we make now will determine the quality of our time in the after life.  There is rank and file in heaven, everyone will know what we did or didn’t do in this life.  Don’t misunderstand me, there will be no punishment or degrading in heaven.  Christians who alter God’s Word and teach others the same will be called the least in the kingdom of heaven.
