perfecting holiness

If you are a believer and you sin but quickly repent, you are in the process of perfecting holiness. You are protecting and safe-guarding the gift of righteousness God gave you. Before your new birth you were a child of the devil and you bore his nature. The devil is a spirit and he needs a body in order to manifest himself in the world. He used me until I was restored to my Heavenly Father. Now I am a new creature and old things have passed away.

1 Corinthians 6:9 The unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God. Don’t be deceived: no fornication, idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, thieves, drunks, nor immoral people. Vs. 11 And such were some of you but you are  washed and justified in the Name of our Lord Jesus.

When you accept Jesus as your Savior, you become a child of God. You are no longer among those named sins in 1 Corinthians 6. You are delivered and free of the devil and your old nature but change is not always immediate. Your flesh has been habituated to the pleasures of the ungodly world. Old habits can be broken, if you will recognize the sin and the power it has over you. God will help you. He can do nothing without our cooperation. Without Him we cannot perfect holiness. Perfecting holiness is accepting God’s grace to change your fleshly desires. Some Christians don’t highly regard this because they lack a revelation of God’s love and sacrifice.

When God’s amazing grace is permitted to have it’s perfect work we will forsake our bad habits and develop new good habits. Attending your church regularly is a good habit. Encounters with God’s Holy Spirit is always a good thing. We begin as God’s project and we are to become His personal prize. We simply need to avail ourselves to the Lord. If we could perfect ourselves we wouldn’t need the Lord and we would have done it long ago.

Philippians 2:13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to  do what pleases Him.

God must first be in you before you can desire to want more of Him. He gives us those desires. The more of God you have, the more of Him you will want. I don’t believe we can ever get to the place where we have all the God there is! As we rid ourselves from the residue of the world, we create more space in our heart and lives for the Master. No man has ever regretted having more of God in their lives. The focus is not preserving your eternal security, but rather your relationship with the living God. Too many people want to fulfill the daily requirements to stay saved.

Romans 6:4 Christ has raised us from the dead, so we should walk in newness of life.

We were dead in our sins and now alive in Christ. Our two lives should have no similarity. Newness of life is an abstract departure from our old unsaved life. Folks who love the Lord are given to this. Christians who will perfect holiness will be used of the Lord in manifestations of the Spirit.

    PRAYER FOCUS
    TAKING INVENTORY

We are about to embark on the greatest adventure and outpouring of God’s Spirit! This month the Holy Spirit is asking us to examine ourselves/take           inventory so as God’s Vessels we can take our part and place in the Body of Christ!

    Scriptures to meditate on:

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

Psalm 26:4 Lord you can scrutinize me. Refine my heart and probe my every thought. Put me to the test and you will find it is true.

2 Cor 10:6 It is written, and having a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

1 Peter 4:17 For judgement begins at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Psalm 139: 23, 24 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me of unbelief and lead me in the way everlasting.

2 Timothy 2:4 No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of (civilian) life: his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him (God)! DO ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD!
