Lost that Lovin' Feeling

When you asked Jesus into your heart, He wholeheartedly accepted your invitation. Jesus wants to be  involved in every aspect of your life; He truly cares about your well being. Early on in this relationship you were very excited and full of zeal and participation, but one day reality crept in. You must tend to the affairs of your natural life, sometimes you may need to spend days dealing with the issues of this life. And then one day you realize you have not given Jesus much of your time, and you lost that lovin’ feelin’.

John 14:27 Peace I leave you, my peace I give unto you, not the world’s kind of peace, don’t let your heart be troubled.

That lovin’ feelin’ I’m talking about is the peace of God. The God kind of peace is not the absence of problems, it’s the presence of God. His presence doesn’t just come to an abrupt end, it slowly ebbs away due to a lack of attention. It is during this time of a lack of Godly attention, where the devil invites himself into your thoughts. He does his best to convince you that God is angry with you. The devil will tell you anything he can conjure up, to separate you from the love of God. Jesus said not to let your heart be troubled, if it is then you have let the devil sell you a pack of lies.

Acts 3:19 Repent and turn again, that your sins will be blotted out, and times of refreshing (restoration) will come from the presence of the Lord.

No matter how much distance we think we put between ourselves and Jesus, that gap can be closed in a matter of minutes. If we will put aside all our natural deeds and give God a little time,   our peace will be restored and our heart will no longer be troubled. This is how you begin to do it: go aside somewhere quiet, by yourself and just begin to pray and praise. His love, His peace, His joy will flood into your heart and you are restored. Furthermore, God don’t carry grudges, He won’t put any conditions on your restored relationship. You don’t always have to sin in order to lose that lovin’ feein’, you just may get too busy to give God any attention.

Psalm 100:2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before His presence with singing.

Most Christians seek out God only when they need Him to fix a problem. We must learn to seek God just `cause we love Him and are grateful He sent His Son to die for us. Think of the times as a parent when your child just came and crawled up into your lap, and just hugged you and said: “I love you.” When you enter His gates with singing, you are singing the praises of God. You are taking the Word of God and putting it to music, this is how faith works. God inhabits the praises of His people, this is where that lovin’ feelin’ comes from. Don’t let your heart be troubled, don’t let the peace and joy of our Lord become weakened. If you begin to feel that God is too far away, pray and praise your way back into His presence. We may lose that lovin’ feelin’ once in awhile but we never lose contact with our Lord.

    PRAYER FOCUS
    TAKING INVENTORY

We are about to embark on the greatest adventure and outpouring of God’s Spirit! This month the Holy Spirit is asking us to examine ourselves/take           inventory so as God’s Vessels we can take our part and place in the Body of Christ!

    Scriptures to meditate on:

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

Psalm 26:4 Lord you can scrutinize me. Refine my heart and probe my every thought. Put me to the test and you will find it is true.

2 Cor 10:6 It is written, and having a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

1 Peter 4:17 For judgement begins at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Psalm 139: 23, 24 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me of unbelief and lead me in the way everlasting.

2 Timothy 2:4 No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of (civilian) life: his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him (God)! DO ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD!
