2Corinthians 6:14 What fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion has light with darkness?

The natural man, one who has yet to accept Jesus as his Lord, is unable to have any kind of meaningful relationship with the Lord.  If they think they are communing with God it’s all fabricated in their mind.  The word communion in our text means to communicate, well the righteous has no ear for the unrighteous.  But you are the righteousness of God on account of the new birth and God’s ears and heart are open to you 24/7.  Let me give you a personal revelation.  God loves to fellowship with you.  He loves to hear your voice directed to Him.

John 14:23 And Jesus said,If a man love me, he will keep My words: and My Father will love him, and we will come to Him and make our abode with Him.

If Jesus and His Father comes to live in your heart, don’t you think it would be rude to ignore Him?  Why would almighty God want to live in the inner most being of a man?  Because the man touched the heart of his Lord with his obedience.  Obedience is a welcome mat to the Lord, it indicates a willingness to advance the relationship.  When God sent the angel Gabriel to ask Mary to give birth to His Son Jesus, the angel began the conversation with a type of introduction.

Luke 1:29 When Mary saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

The only time God gave me a salutation or a formal greeting was when He came that day to make His abode in me.  From that day He has never left me or forsaken me.  He has not always approved of my behavior but He has never left me alone.  So when it’s time for a conversation with the Lord, He just starts talking.  He has never called me Jerry, He always calls me son.  Sometimes He just begins to speak and it takes me a while to recognize His voice because I am not paying attention.

God has a very unique way of communicating.  He says very little but you receive much.  He does not waste words and He always gives you something to ponder.  One word from God can change your life forever.

John 6:63 It is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.

We cannot compare the words of man with the words of Jesus.  The flesh or the words of man profit nothing.  The words of God have the power to raise the dead.  The words of man cannot raise the dead but the they can kill another man.  We are taken by the words of our mouth, we will have what we say.  If we will speak the words of life given to us by Jesus, we can put off the words of man that have no life.  As mere flesh and blood, we tend to “shoot the bull”.  Shooting the bull is a term that describes a conversation between two men that has no value.  God never shoots the bull, all of His words are aimed at giving life or enhancing the life one already has.

Hey God, what’s up?

    Scriptures to meditate on:

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

Psalm 26:4 Lord you can scrutinize me. Refine my heart and probe my every thought. Put me to the test and you will find it is true.

2 Cor 10:6 It is written, and having a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

1 Peter 4:17 For judgement begins at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Psalm 139: 23, 24 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me of unbelief and lead me in the way everlasting.

2 Timothy 2:4 No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of (civilian) life: his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him (God)! DO ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD!
