Goodbye devil

The devil is so clever that he can begin to release hell into our lives and we don’t know it is him.  Consequently, we wind up fighting people or other sources that have nothing at all to do with our problem.  Several places in the Bible tell us that the Lord would not have us ignorant.  In other words, ignorance is a choice.  Some folks just don’t make the truth a priority.  When I began to recognize the antics of the devil, I put him out of my life.  I was pleasantly surprised at how peaceful it is without the devil working covertly.

James 4:7 Submit yourself to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

I think a lot of people resist the devil but they neglect the first part of the instruction.  We must first submit ourselves to God.  This means that we agree to obey everything He says to us.  God knows how to devil proof our lives.  He knows how to bring protection into our lives.  We resist the devil by not acting on the thoughts and ideas he plants in our minds.  We must cast down every thought that attempts to exalt itself against the Word of God.  The devil is very disappointed when people won’t do what he wants them to do.

1Peter 5:8 Be sober and vigilant, because the devil is walking about, seeking whom he may devour, whom you must resist steadfast in the faith.

The devil cannot overcome everybody, he cannot devour those who live by the faith of Jesus Christ.  He is a persistent rascal and he doesn’t give up easily, he keeps on trying despite the risk of certain defeat.      He hopes the faithful will let their guard down and give him a victory.  If the devil can persuade you to do something contrary to God’s Word, he calls that a victory.  He usually follows this with the ole guilt trip so you will be ashamed to repent.  However, the more Word you have in you the more opportunities the devil will have to fail.  How it must please our Heavenly Father when He watches His children give the devil a beat down.

Hebrews 2:14 Through His death Jesus would destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil.

The devil does not have the power to take us out.  Jesus destroyed his ability, but if you listen to the devil he talks like it never happened.  The devil has repeated his lies so many times he believes them.  No matter how many times he repeats his lies to you, cast them down and give them no never mind.  If you have no fear of death, that means you have more faith in the Lord’s Word than the devil’s.

John 8:44 There is no truth in the devil.  When he tells a lie, he talks of his own: for he is a liar and the father of all lies.

When the devil speaks something to you, just reverse it and you will know the truth.  The devil has a soft convincing voice, so listen to what he says and how he says it, then you know who is speaking.  Do not engage him in a conversation, just give him these words: goodbye devil.  Never lose sight of the fact that you have dominion over all devils and demons.

    Scriptures to meditate on:

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

Psalm 26:4 Lord you can scrutinize me. Refine my heart and probe my every thought. Put me to the test and you will find it is true.

2 Cor 10:6 It is written, and having a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

1 Peter 4:17 For judgement begins at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Psalm 139: 23, 24 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me of unbelief and lead me in the way everlasting.

2 Timothy 2:4 No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of (civilian) life: his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him (God)! DO ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD!
