Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit, so how much of the Spirit can we have?
John 3:34 For he whom God has sent speaks the Word of God: for God gives not the Spirit by measure.
If God sends a man to accomplish something for Him, that man will speak what God instructs him to speak. If this person, man or woman, is willing to speak what God gives him, then that person will have the Holy Spirit without limits. Whenever a believer will compromise God’s Word, he will put restrictions on what the Spirit is capable of doing. “Israel turned away from God and limited the Holy One of Israel”. “Your words have been stout against Me saith the Lord”.
Acts 2:4 They were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
On the day of Pentecost the promise of the Holy Spirit filled a hundred and twenty people who were awaiting the promise. Our text says they were all filled and when a believer is filled with the Holy Ghost something is about to happen. Peter and John being filled with the Spirit went to the temple to pray and they ended up healing a lame man that never walked in his life. Peter and John were then interrogated and ordered to stop using the Name of Jesus, a man that was supposedly dead. So, Peter and John went back to their company and told them all that had happened. The church put together a prayer based on the Word of God.
Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and spoke the Word boldly.
All of the folks in Peter and John’s company were already filled with the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost! If we continue to read the book of Acts we see several times where the believers were filled with the Spirit more than once. Every filling led to supernatural events, people were miraculously healed and God added to the church. Every man that was filled or refilled was where God told them to be and they were doing what God told them to do. And in every case they had to defy men and their religion, so being filled and refilled requires courage. We will always have a choice between two, pleasing God or pleasing man. We will either be filled with God or we will be full of “it”.
1 Thessalonians 4:1 ...you have received of us how you ought to walk and to please God, so you would abound more and more.
Selling out to the Lord and serving Him is never in vain, we touch the heart of our Father with our obedience. From the very beginning man has always had a choice, if you love Me, keep my commandments. Telling God you love Him means nothing if you don’t obey Him. There are folks who claim to know God but in works (demonstration) they deny Him, God will not be mocked. Some folks can’t live without God while others can get along just fine without Him. If you can’t live without God, then seek to be filled over and over, fill er up God.
I tithe by my faith in God,
He will open the windows of Heaven.
He will give me many blessings, He will honor my faith.
I cannot please my Father without faith, so I lend my ear to His Word.
My faith will not fail me
because my Lord will not fail me.
