bringing
the word
to life

Picture
Being an ignorant fellow is not a crime until it comes to the knowledge of God. I was ignorant of God for the first thirty years of my life because I was taught by ignorant men.  Men who are deceived teach their deception and enlightened men teach the truth.  I had a major problem, I didn’t know where to go to find truth, my church had no faith in the Bible.  My mother bought a large gold paged Bible and put it on the coffee table.  Before any of us could touch it or hold it we had to put on clean clothes and wash our hands.  I tried to read from it one time but I think it was written in Latin.  The last time I saw it, it was in a stack of Outdoor Life magazines, and my little sister used color crayons to mark it up.

Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father forgive them; for they know not what they do.

In my ignorance I prayed to statues and dead people, but Jesus forgave me.  Jesus is far more interested in establishing a relationship with us than chiding us for our ignorance.  I had no idea how stupid I thought until I was saved from myself.  We are surrounded by ignorant people but we can’t judge them because we were one of them.  The folks who know better but continue the wrong path are the ones who are headed for trouble.  Men who are offered the truth but reject it will also answer to God and no excuse they dream up will pardon them.

1 Timothy 1:13 The Apostle Paul said, I was a blasphemer, a persecutor and a murderer: but I obtained mercy because I did ignorantly.

Seems like to me that God is willing to forgive any sin we make in order to have us in His presence.  He forgave the men who crucified His Son onto the cross.  He forgave them while they were driving the nails into His Son’s hands and feet.  Some folks don’t think they ever need forgiveness because they don’t ever do anything wrong.  They may be the nicest people in the world, well, they may be the nicest people in hell.  No one in hell is ignorant but that’s a hell of a place to acknowledge the truth.

If you don’t meet Jesus in this life, you will never meet Him.

God wants just one thing from us, He wants us to acknowledge the truth and repent.  Some folks spend their entire life fabricating excuses and in one minute they could repent and not need any of their excuses.  Some folks won’t repent because they can’t figure out why God would want them.  Well you really won’t know until you make the connection, then you will discover that He loves you!  How can God love a sinner?  Because He is willing to forgive all of our sins.  Just let God be God, some folks want to argue with His way of doing things, as if they have a better way.

Isaiah 43:25 I am He that blots out your sins for mine own sake, and will not remember your sins.

So, not only does the Lord forgive us but He forgets our past.  The devil likes to remind us but there’s nothing to remember, so don’t.  God wants us to forget our past and focus on Him, just let the Lord love you.  Ignorance is a choice, don’t choose it, choose to know the One who loves you.

Bible Prosperity

God prepared a luxurious garden and fully equipped it, and then He put man in it. Man was born into a prosperous environment; he could have whatever he wanted with the seed God gave him. However, when man chose to hear and obey another voice, man was evicted from what God wanted him to have forever. Now man is living in a world that is governed by the curse, by the sweat of his brow. He must contend with weeds, seedeaters, drought and the seasons. All of Adams descendants are born under the curse and that is all they know!

3 John 2 Beloved, I pray above all things that you may prosper and be in good health, even as your soul prospers.

Prosperity is having enough to meet all your needs and some left over to help meet the needs of others. Prosperity covers the soul, the spirit, and the body, it’s not confined to just wealth. All prosperity begins in the soul, or the mind. Our mind must be renewed or we will  not believe it’s God’s will to have increase. You will not have what you speak against. You must speak in line with God’s will. God promises to restore all things to man that Adam lost to the devil. Confession brings possession and the proper confession must come out of a mind that believes God’s will.

Psalm 1:3 Empowered to prosper is the man who delights in God’s Word. He shall be like a tree planted by the river bearing much fruit. And whatsoever he does shall prosper.

If you love the Word of God you will study it and embrace it, you will readily discover all the hidden promises. God says whatever you do will prosper. If you believe this your attitude will change. You will begin to expect the blessings of God to come and seek you out. You will come to realize that you no longer have any portion of the curse. You will expect to see favor in the city and the country. You will see God make good come out of ugly situations. Why are some folks blessed and others are not?! Some believe and expect and others merely hope but they are not convinced of God’s will. They have not planted themselves by the river. They live in ground that is arid and void of the nutrients of God’s Word.

Psalm 5:12 The Lord will bless the righteous, He will compass him with favor as like a shield.

Anyone can read this Scripture for themselves, but how many stop and meditate on it long enough to believe it? I had to keep reading it along with all the other references until I began to believe the promise is mine. This Scripture changed my thinking, now I expect to have favor (prosperity) wherever I go. Everything the world owns are stolen goods, it was stolen from Adam. The world owes God for all it has taken, so the wealth of the world is laid up for the just. I don’t feel remorse when the world restores to me what belongs to me! Brother Jerry, how can you think this way? The Word of God has renewed my mind. I know the truth and the truth has made me free. If we don’t think in line with God’s Word we will not have what God’s Word says we can have. Prosperity is God’s idea and I think it is a good one.
