becoming strong in the faith

Did you know that all men begin their course with the same amount of faith?  Some men have more faith than others. How can that be?  Is God a respector of persons?

Romans 12:3 Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, for God has dealt to every man the measure of faith.

For some “religious reasons” some folks think you are stuck with the faith God gives each man.  In the Holy Scriptures we see men having no faith, some with weak faith and a few with great faith.  Forget those who have no faith and those with weak faith, let’s focus on those who had great faith.  How does a man go from having no faith to having great faith?

Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

Some folks diligently give themselves to hearing the Word constantly.  They are building on the measure of faith God gave them.  People who are weak in faith have a tendency to be jealous of those who have more faith than they do.

You will never have anything you oppose.

Whosoever wants to have great faith can have it, God will be happy to supply all you want and are willing to have.  As you have probably surmised by now, increasing your faith will require some effort on your part.  Increasing your faith is not difficult, it just requires a commitment from the one who wants more.  You can easily identify a person with great faith, they are the ones that say they can do all things through Christ that strengthens them.

2 Corinthians 4:13 As it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken.

We know that faith is released in words but something must come before we speak, we must believe what God has said before we can repeat it.  The prayer of faith is an accurate, precise declaration that can potentially move a mountain.  We do not need to have faith in our ability to speak eloquent Bible phrases.  Our faith is in what Jesus did on the cross and what He said.  This removes a tremendous burden off of our shoulders.  We simply come to the place where we believe in everything Jesus said and gave to us.

Galatians 3:11 It is evident: for the just shall live by faith.

Some folks think the only time you “break out” your faith is when you come up against major opposition.  Truth is you can use your faith anytime you want to for whatever you want.  You could have a pocket full of money and leave it there in order to use your faith.  Faith is used for desperate measures but not exclusively for desperate times, you can use your faith in lieu of your means.  Do not put your faith aside and save it for emergencies, you are the just and you should live by faith.  If you ever come up against a mountain you have never faced before, go to the Word and get built up specifically for that project.  There is nothing in this world faith can’t overcome.

1 John 5:4 Whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.

    Scriptures to meditate on:

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

Psalm 26:4 Lord you can scrutinize me. Refine my heart and probe my every thought. Put me to the test and you will find it is true.

2 Cor 10:6 It is written, and having a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

1 Peter 4:17 For judgement begins at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

Psalm 139: 23, 24 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me of unbelief and lead me in the way everlasting.

2 Timothy 2:4 No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of (civilian) life: his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him (God)! DO ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD!
