After the Lord gave me the vision of restoring the supernatural power of God back to the local church, He gave me the steps. For three years after He gave me the vision He had me teaching on the subject of holiness. I really thought I had missed God because I wanted to better understand the power of God. People began to question me. How will we restore the supernatural power of God? Then one day the Lord caused me to understand His plan.
2 Timothy 2:21 If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special vessel for honorable use. Your life will be clean and you will be ready for the Master to use for every good work.
We had the faith to believe God would perform His Word. We just needed to offer Him a clean vessel. Now what is the spiritual condition of the church at large today? Compromise seems to be the order of the day. Preachers are prone to pleasing men and their lusts more than God and His will.
Some churches have compromised so much they don’t have enough power to get people saved and they don’t even try. They are blessing same-sex marriages and some are ordaining homosexuals. We are called “haters” but we are thriving in the love and acceptance of God.
Psalm 4:5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness and put your trust in the Lord.
A man could not offer his sacrifices to the Lord unless he first dealt with his sins. A man would offer sacrifices because he acknowledged that God was His Lord. Offering sacrifices established reverence and obedience but no intimacy. A lot of Christians honor God in various manners but they neglect to make contact with their Savior.
Psalm 9:10 And they that know our Name will put their trust in You: for you Lord have not forsaken them that seek You.
A lot of people believe in God but they don’t know Him. God is a stranger to them, you cannot put your trust in someone you don’t Know! Most folks don’t know how to establish trust in the Lord or they just don’t care to. They are content to receive God as a mystery, knowing very little about Him. But there are others who insist on knowing their Lord and Savior and they will do whatever they need to in order to discover Him.
John 14:7 If you had known Me, you should have known My Father also: and from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.
If any man desires to see God all he need do is look at Jesus in the Bible. Jesus was the express image of His Father, the heavenly Father revealed Himself in Jesus. Now Jesus did not insulate Himself from any man, He had no favorites. He got rebuked by the church leaders because He had lunch with all the local sinners. Jesus was drawn to all the people who needed God, He was a “chip” off the ole block”. Jesus took the mystery out of God, no man has a legitimate excuse for not knowing the living God. Jesus was Son of God, Son of Man, He had the body of a man but the Spirit of God. Jesus came to reveal the Father and to invite all men into His presence. A lot of men don’t feel worthy of His presence and they’re right but God wants us anyway.
James 4:8 Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh unto you. Cleanse your hands you sinners; and purify your hearts…
This invitation is to all in the world, He wants all men to come close to Him. He has made a way for all men to be free of sin, He makes us worthy of His presence. If a man has not come to trust God, he will not draw nigh to Him. God is not a man that He should lie. We must never pull God down to man’s level, all men are liars but it is impossible for God to lie. A man is known by his word, God is known by His Word. God had His Word recorded because it will never change.
Psalm 89:34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips.
God has said everything we need to hear Him say and it is eternal. God is the only one we can trust and He says He wants intimacy with us. So it’s all settled, there is no debate and no misunderstanding. If a man has no faith or trust in God it is because he does not know what the Lord has said. I have read His Word which is His will. I know He loves me and He has invited me to share His throne, the seat of authority.
I know a lot of good Christian folks who were excited about their relationship with Jesus. As time wore on they lost that lovin’ feelin’ and they became lukewarm. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is not always excited about the Lord, even after the Lord heals it! Just because you leave the devil’s camp and join yourself to Jesus doesn’t mean the devil ceases to attempt to draw you back to himself. The devil counts it a greater victory when he can come between a believer and the Lord. This is greater to him than holding fast to a sinner who has never known Christ.
2 John 1:8 Look to yourself that you lose not those things which you have gained, but that you receive a full reward.
While you’re on fire for Jesus you are accumulating the rewards of faithfulness. But when you compromise you put your rewards in jeopardy. When we all get to heaven God will reward every person according to his or her faithfulness. The compromisers will have no such rewards. God loves everyone in heaven equally and everyone will share His glory, however, the faithful ones will be known by everyone. If the only thing God ever told you to do is take out the trash and you do it, you will get a full reward.
Luke 22:31 The Lord said Simon, Simon, behold, satan has desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I prayed for you that your faith fail not.
The devil was targeting Christ’s number one man and Jesus knew it. He did two things, He prayed for Peter and He warned him. The same thing He does for all of us. The same night that Jesus spoke this, Peter denied knowing Him three times and then the “gospel chicken” crowed. The devil sifted Peter. Peter compromised and wept in his grief. Thank God Peter felt the shame and repented. I know a lot good Christians who have justified their lukewarm condition.
Hebrews 10: 38-39 The just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul will have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition (damnation, hell) but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
Compromise can be deadly. It can come between us and our redemption. Compromise doesn’t just happen, it comes in slowly and continues to beckon us away from the security of our salvation. At anytime during this process we can oppose it and return to the safety of God’s love. The devil has appointed a large number of folks who he ordained to minster compromise to the willing.
2 Timothy 4:3 The time has come where they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts they will heap to themselves teachers having itching ears.
No matter what anyone wants to compromise, the devil has a teacher who will accommodate them. Religion is the epitome of fake news and the fan base is growing daily. You can always find a “minister” who will bless your compromise, your error.
Us Christians have an invisible enemy the world knows nothing about. Our common enemy is the devil and he is a killer. If the world knew about his criminal activity, perhaps they wouldn’t dress like him at Halloween or joke about him. The devil walks among us seeking whom he may devour, he is looking for the ignorant, those who slumber and sleep.
Mathew 24:4 And Jesus said: take heed that no man deceive you.
If you know for a fact that impending danger is coming you can prepare for it and minimize its effects. Jesus has done everything we need to live above the evil one of this world, if we get caught in his snare it’s our fault. The devil cometh and faith cometh, thank God faith cometh first. If we don’t pay attention, if we get into a stupor, the devil will move in and take advantage of us.
James 16:13 When the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide us into all truth.
This is not just a cute Bible phrase, without the Holy Spirit we would never know the truth. If we are divinely connected to the Holy Ghost, He will keep us from the evil in this present world. It is truth that keeps us separated from the devil and his world system. If the truth is a priority to you and you insist on having it every day of the world, you are on alert and the devil cannot have you. I know a lot of Christians who are shipwrecked because they slumbered and did not pay attention.
2 John 7 For many deceivers are entered into the world who confess not that Jesus is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an anti-Christ.
The devil has recruited and trained men to deceive you and everyone has qualities that appeal to the believer.
You cannot judge a book by its cover.
Most of the deceivers I have met were the nicest looking people you can imagine and they had great personalities. They can only disguise themselves for so long but eventually their deceptive belief will need to come out. Don’t be in a rush to accept a person as your minister, a good tree will bring forth good fruit. The Holy Spirit knows who is of God and who is of the devil, He will reveal the heart of all men. Men who the devil has entrusted one of his pet doctrines to cannot keep it to themselves for long.
A wise man speaks because he has something to say. A fool speaks because he has to say something.
Kenneth Hagin says the devil is a persistent cuss, he never gives up. If he can’t deceive you with one thing he will try another and then he will go back to what he tried afore time. Jesse Duplantis says the devil has Alzheimer's. Your spiritual integrity is on the line, you cannot afford to “zone out”, you must take everything to the Word. The Word of God is our spiritual filter, it strains and divides the good from the bad. We are not obligated to accept or trust everyone we meet, we are obligated to love them but not to trust them. Keep your guard up, make all preparations to disappoint the attempts of the devil.
When the Lord calls a man into relationship with Him, He intends for that union to be forever. A lot of Christians endure for a season but when affliction or persecution arises for the Word’s sake they turn away. The Christians in our camp are called “charismatics”. Based on their longevity Jerry Savelle calls them “cruiseamatics”. Why do so many people lose interest in God and what He has done for them? I believe the reason is that some folks do not take the time needed to really get to know their Savior.
Mathew 11:25 Father I thank You because You have hid these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them unto babes.
The wise and the prudent are people who keep God in the mental realm. They never seem to make spiritual contact. All the God they know is what they can perceive with their five physical senses. Their relationship with the Lord is superficial. It never probes the depth of His willing Spirit. So when adversity or temptation come they have no foundation to rest upon and so they don’t know what God will do. They don’t bother to contact Him.
In the other camp we have the babes. These are people who don’t demand any physical evidence from God. They perceive and believe Him based on His Word. They form a lasting relationship based solely on His Word. When adversity or affliction comes they use praise to gather themselves into the presence of their Lord. They know that nothing can separate them from the love of their Lord. The babies in Christ can scarcely be discouraged because they live in the continual presence of their Lord and Savior.
1 Corinthians 15:58 Be stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as you know your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
This is sweet music to a babe in Christ but to the wise and prudent it is a labor intensified. All things work to the good for those who love the Lord. Nothing we do in line with obedience is ever a waste of time. Some folks see no value in worshipping the Lord or giving Him His tithe. Others live just to please Him, they are stedfast and beam with the joy of living in His presence. You cannot discourage a stedfast Christian, they intimately know their Lord and what He has promised to do. The wise and prudent need constant attention, someone has to continually talk them into staying with God.
Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of God rule in your spirit, to which also you are called in one body; and be thankful.
What are we to be thankful for? For Jesus dying on the cross for us and taking our place in hell! If you lose sight of what He has done you will begin to slip away from Him. If you remind yourself every day that He has made a place for you in heaven, you will maintain your stedfastness in Him.
All of us have baggage, these are the negative things that work together to define our lives. Some have more than others, but we all have baggage. God knows we have baggage but He takes us just as we are. Men marry a woman with the hope she never changes, women marry a man with the hope of changing him. The worst baggage of all is when a person can’t ever stand themselves.
James 5:16 Confess to one another your faults, your slip ups, false steps and your offenses, and pray for one another that you may be healed and restored.
Before anyone can confess their faults to anyone they must first recognize and admit they have baggage. If a person lives in denial, they will never change and their relationships will always be limited. Notice the text, it says confess to one another, this indicates that we all have baggage so there is no place for judgement. We cannot pray effectively for one another if we are full of criticism and judgement. If a person continually gripes about the conduct of other people, that person has the problem. The world loves to promote and glorify the “victim” mentality, this doctrine has no place in the church.
Hebrews 4:16 Let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace in time of need.
God does not want any of His people to be a burden to His body so He offers His grace to fortify our weakness. God’s grace is His supernatural power that changes a man from the inside out. So this is our option: we can complain and be a pain in the derriere or we can present ourselves to God and let Him deal with our baggage.
2 Timothy 1:7 God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
God has given us His Spirit and if we will embrace His Spirit we will never fear anything. Fear is the door that opens to all our baggage so if we will deal with all our fears we can ship our baggage out. Fear does not originate with God, He gives us grace and His grace deals with our fears. The spirit of fear works in our mind, it convinces us to expect the worst of everything. When a man has fear he thinks everyone is “out to get him”. He has no self confidence, he misunderstands good intentions and he spends most of his time in worry! If a man does not have a sound mind he will be inundated with thoughts of paranoia.
Genesis 3:12 And Adam said, the woman you gave me, she gave me the fruit and I ate it.
So it began with Adam: “it’s not my fault”, it was that woman. I often wonder how things would have been if Adam took responsibility for his disobedience? When he passed the buck he added baggage to his life, he feared what God would do. You cannot successfully deal with something that does not belong to you. Locking things away in a dark closet will not end the problem, they need to be out in the light where God’s grace can take hold of them.
If you are committed to obeying the Lord no matter what He asks of you, He has put you on a course. You have been appointed and anointed to do something special for the Lord. Most of the courses God puts you on are lifetime events. Some things He assigns you to do will have a short time span but they are all part of your main course. We always view our course from a spiritual perspective but rarely consider the physical aspect. We cannot run our course if our bodies are racked with disease and pain. The Apostle Paul was given a thorn in the flesh because God put him on a course to impart revelations.
Acts 20:24 None of these things move me, neither do I count my life dear to myself, so I can finish my course with joy.
Paul relied on his Lord to protect and heal him of every demonic attack. No matter what the devil threw at Paul, God would heal him and restore him. One day Paul was stoned to death and his disciples prayed for him and he got up and walked to a nearby city. The rock chuckers were very experienced stoners and they knew they had to crush Paul’s skull in order to kill him. Paul walked to Derbe and preached the next day. No devil could shake Paul off his course.
If you have submitted to the course God has set before you, two things will happen. First of all, the devil will unleash all the hell he can into your life. He will turn people against you. People who once were your friends will seemingly overnight begin to oppose you for no apparent reason. The second thing to happen is an increase in God’s supernatural power. The Lord will not leave you to fend for yourself, it is important to Him that you finish your course. You can expect divine intervention and the favor of God.
2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
Paul was given a course so he had to fight the good fight of faith in order to finish his course. What was his course? He had to convince the Jews and Gentiles that both camps would be saved by grace and baptized with the Holy Spirit. The twelve original apostles got into a dispute over the idea of the Gentiles receiving salvation. God had to supernaturally teach Paul and Peter His will. Paul did everything God gave him to do, he knew that his time here on the earth was coming to an end. He would not permit the devil to harm him until he finished what he was called to do.
Because Paul was steadfast in his resolve to finish his course all of us are in the Kingdom of God and filled with His Spirit. If Paul would have died before he finished his course God would have raised up another man. God is going to have His witness in the earth. There are not enough devils in the world who can stop Him. God has given me the vision of restoring God’s supernatural power back to the local church. I am not God’s first choice. I know of at least five other pastors who had the vision.
For the past seven weeks we have been studying spirit, soul and body on Wednesday nights. I planned to teach on the subject one night but the Lord continues to add more and more. We have keyed in on “spirits”, how they operate and how to identify them.
1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Holy Spirit speaks clearly, that in the last days many shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.
We need to understand what the goal of the devil is so we can be equipped to resist him. The objective of the devil is to talk Christians into departing from the “faith” where by they are saved. The devils have their own doctrine and ignorant people are drawn to it. Jehovah’s witnesses do not believe that there is a hell, this appeals to Christians who like to dabble in sin. Recently the Lord spoke this to me:
The thing that makes the devil so dangerous, he has nothing to lose.
The devil does not have even one drop of sympathy for anyone, he has no idea what compassion is. The devil has already been judged, the only thing he has to look forward to is eternal torment in hell. His idea of the good life is to get between God and His people. So how does the devil get his doctrine published, how does a spirit commune with flesh and blood?
Mark 5:7 The devil cried with a loud voice, what have I to do with you, Jesus the Son of God, I adjure you by God, you torment me not.
The devil used the man’s vocal chords to speak to Jesus. The devil has no problem finding someone he can speak through, this is how men hear the doctrines of devils. If you study the major cults and religions of the world, you will identify the doctrines of the devil. But you must first know what the Holy Spirit said or you will be duped just like the rest of these ignorant souls. One of the old doctrines I was convinced of is purgatory, I believed that if I did certain things I would burn in purgatory for a short time. If I gave up candy for lent, if I bought and lit candles and said “special prayers” I could shorten my time in purgatory.
Acts 17:11 These men were noble because the received the Word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
After I was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost I learned to use the concordance. I looked up the word purgatory but I could not find it, I spent nearly thirty years believing in a doctrine of devils! So how do we judge doctrine? By comparing it to the Word of God, if it isn’t in the Bible then it doesn’t belong in your heart.
John 17:17 Sanctify them through your truth: Your Word is truth.
As I studied the Word I became more confident, I drew closer to the Lord and all my fears began to leave. I was being sanctified, cleansed from all the doctrines that held me back, I became a new creature in Christ Jesus.
For the past year and a half Kenneth Copeland has been telling the body of Christ to get their house in order. He is not telling us that death is imminent, he is telling us that God has begun to move supernaturally and we must be ready to flow with Him. How does one get his house in order? He gets out all of the lusts of the world and recommits to a life of faith.
2 Timothy 2:21 If a man will purge (clean) himself from the lusts of the flesh, he will be a vessel of honor, separated unto the Lord and able to do the Master’s plan and prepared unto every good work.
I have personally witnessed some of God’s great miracles and I know more are on the way. I don’t want to be a bystander, I want to be involved. I want the Lord to use me. The Lord has used me to heal some folks but I have always known there is more than what I have seen. God doesn’t randomly just pick people, He chooses those who will obey Him. Jesus could do nothing of Himself. He could only do what He heard His Father say. It can be no different for us, we can do only what the Father gives us. Examine yourself whether you are in faith or not. Make any necessary adjustments and get ready for the best God has to offer.
Mark 4:26 And Jesus said, so is the Kingdom of God, as if man should sow seed into the ground.
It was Jesus Himself that gave us the law of seed, time and harvest. I don’t think we have fully comprehended how important this law is to our lives. We can have whatever we want if we are willing to sow a seed. This law did not originate with Jesus, it was part of the blessing God pronounced over Adam in the garden. God created man, put him in the garden and then gave him every kind of seed imaginable. Today we are in the same garden but now it’s called the Kingdom of God. So we have a place to sow and God is still giving us the seed to plant.
The military has a term they use in the field, it’s called “fire for effect”. Primarily it means to lob a shell in the vicinity of the target and then make the necessary adjustments to hit the mark. So when we commit to be sowers we may not sow in the best possible place, we might miss the mark. We must never become discouraged and give up on our God given lifestyle. The first time we planted a garden we didn’t get much but we kept at it and we got better. God tends to give seed to tithers and they are not the same thing. The tithe belongs to the Lord, the seed is ours to sow and reap. Tithers live under an open heaven where the rain can water the seed and make it grow.
Malachi 3:11 I will rebuke the seed eater for your sakes and he shall not destroy the harvest from your ground.
We understand that once we sow, the Lord will protect our seed and prevent the devil from tampering with it. One day I gave a man a hundred dollars to help him with a trip he was taking. A week later a man sent me a hundred dollars, I thought to myself that was sure a fast return! But then the Lord spoke to me and said I had gained nothing, He said that He was getting my seed back to me. He went on to tell me that the man was not good soil so He was protecting my seed for another time. I fired for effect but I missed the mark, then the Lord helped me to get sighted in and hit the bullseye.
2 Corinthians 9:7 Let every man according as he purposes in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loves a cheerful giver.
Can you now understand how the devil discourages us from sowing for several reasons? Giving requires faith and the devil’s greatest threat is our faith. He does not want us to receive from God because we will give Him all the glory. Furthermore, he wants us to toil and not let the Lord bless us, his goal is to discredit the Lord and His Word. Finally, when he goes after our seed the Lord rebukes him and he gets nothing. Every time the Lord blesses us He gets the glory and the devil is the great loser. The more we sow the more we reap and our confidence grows and becomes more of a problem for the devil. I love to make my Lord glad and the devil sad. God gave us His laws, He just needs people who are willing to operate in them. So fire for effect and fire again until you hit the mark.
